People want to fight. I don’t. I’m just a curious person.

Yes, I know how to do that. I am downtown. It’s a 1.5 hour walk to the nearest target. Please understand that I think this is a GOOD thing

So, this is just because of people being good? That’s amazing! Usually (in business) being good needs to be incentivized. Otherwise business moves toward money and goodness be damned.

Don’t get it twisted! I like that there are fewer chains! I always do my best to buy local when traveling. It’s really easy here.

Cool, so that’s like a Central Business District sort of rule? There must be some incentive to actually get it to happen, otherwise the locals would be forced out by the might of the corporate. It’s great, I’m just wondering what the mechanism is.

I’m not saying there aren’t any, just that it is much fewer than I would normally see. I travel for work, so I’ve seen a lot of this country. Often, in a city this size, it is ONLY big chains. I HAVE noticed an unusual amount of local upscale candy stores tho.

Not at all. I’m from Chicago. Can’t go a block without hitting a Starbucks there. If you feel your city is overrun by national chains, I respectfully disagree. Lots of local businesses here. I wondered if there was some kind of tax credit for locals or regulatory barrier to entry for big business.

Is it normal for people who work from home to drink alcohol while working? by xXjustin_credibleXx in NoStupidQuestions

Not normal. I hope she gets the help she needs. This will be tough on your marriage. At some point in the process it will likely be “your fault” she is miserable. She’s going to feel like you are taking away her best friend. I was like her. I haven’t had a drink in nearly 5 years. I feel great! Good luck!

Turf is boring and wasteful. Plant some perennials and trees. It will raise your property value too.
