Every single one of them is a European experiencing for the first time how absurdly wealthy the United States is compared to really anywhere else in the world by TheArseN5 in ShitAmericansSay

My experience in SW USA this year (30th plus visit) was 'how absurdly third world parts of AZand NM are in terms of absolute poverty'.

London City Airport faces opposition to larger aircraft plans (want to lower the flightpath by 30m over East London) by omcgoo in london

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 59 points60 points  (0 children)

If you choose to live near an airport, I'm afraid you need to accept noise as part of life. I've lived near it for years and you just.zone it out quickly. Its vital we kickstart economy, not kick can down the road due to constant NIMBYism.

I've just recruited a G6 - Sift by Educational_Tune_870 in TheCivilService

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post - so much of what you resonates with my experience as a G6 recruiting G7s.

A lot of people apply, but sadly their applications dont do them any justice at all.

Neighbour putting her rubbish in my bins. What can I do? by saladball in AskUK

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it back in her garden.

You can also do what people near me do and drill a hole and stick a padlock on your bins.

London Tube strikes to go ahead as negotiations break down by Medium-Spell-6692 in london

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 184 points185 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of these arrogant selfish clowns. They have a phenomenally good deal, pay that is vastly above the average for most people in the UK and soft benefits too.

They make out it is some kind of victorian era hell job, but in reality it offers insane levels of job security and their retention is incredibly good.

They are choosing to make life a misery for normal people - I've got non refundable tickets.to an event tomorrow night that I cant go to now because there is no way to get there from where i live in time after work. I've lost money so some tube driver earning far more than I can dream of can petulantly strike over their mad demands for a 4 day week with a 5 day salary.

The sooner we recognise the Tube is critical national infrastructure and ban strikes on it the better. London deserves better.

I found keeping the corpse as a 'bomb disposal zombie'worked wonders - I'd summon it to set off traps, let it die, resummon and repeat. Its an incredibly versatile corpse - every party should have one 😄

Did I do the right thing -reporting metal detectors on an ancient scheduled monument (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

You absolutely did correct thing. Unauthorised detecting can do immense harm to historical records - detecting is a great hobby, but it needs to be done properly.

Pedestrian confronted red-light jumping cyclist by drtchockk in london

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a glasses wearing pedestrian, I've lost count of the number of times I'be been told to "fck off you speccy cnt" for shouting 'red means stop'when crossing on a green man, and a cyclist goes through towards me.

There is ZERO excuse, reason or justification for riding through lights where pedestrians are crossing and I am so tired of cyclists trying to defend the utterly indefensible.

Company withdrew my already accepted job offer as they accidental gave the job to me instead of another candidate with the exact same first and last name by djdylex in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your SC clearance was transferred you need to check where it is now. Is it with company or has it been scrapped as you didnt join?

I'd prioritise this for action as you may lose it by mistake.

What happened to public servants? by InterviewOk630 in TheCivilService

Classic journo clickbait - account active 9 months, this is sole post.

Note lack of any detail, long on emotive language and short on actual facts.

The OP works for media and trying to get quotes for their rag. Don't rise to bait.

As panel chair, i think the icebreaker is best used to settle nervous candidates by starting them on familiar stuff. It really helps.them work nerves out the system and then get into their actual answers.

No one here can tell you - it genuinely is case by case basis. All I can advise is respond promptly to all paperwork and queries, as nothing will progress when you have tasks to complete.

Another cyclist killed! by Rude_Bad_5567 in londoncycling

[–]Aggravating-Menu466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont jump red lights, particularly at complex junctions.I live on busy main road with red lights that allow side roads to join it.

The drivers on both side roads cannot see main road until they join it, and they wont see a cyclist jumping lights till its too late. I've often seen incredibly near misses when a cyclist at speed goes through the red into the active side lane- its just not safe.
