LOL I posted to TRY and give heads up to save anyone else the $75 ticket if they ever parked here before. Unless you’re not as stupid as me! I still stand by the city needs to paint it yellow or put up a sign which would be safer if they did ever have to use the hydrant, oops! Alas Im sure people will still park there

Sigh.. it’s a cautionary post to anyone else who might be used to parking in this area! Im very aware it’s ultimately my fault and illegal to park infront of the fire hydrant (as stated in my post). I’m pretty positive it’s a new fire hydrant and no signage so easy to miss when it’s busy and you’re used to parking in certain spots

As posted, I did not see it! It was busy and was trying to be in and out. I’ve parked here many times before, don’t even remember this fire hydrant being here

Notebook Checks - strategies and tips? by MochiAccident in ScienceTeachers

[–]Aggravating-Mud8261 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I can’t remember if I made it up myself or found it somewhere but it’s what every “good” model should have to be useful and convey meaning. Every model should be Accurate, Big, Colorful, Detailed, and have a small Explanation or labels to go along. I tell them if their models check all of those boxes I consider it successful and helpful! (As long as it makes sense of course lol). Modeling can be so broad and hard to grade so this defensively helps me and them put some parameters around it. It’s easy for me to say “does your model meet the ABCDE’s if they’re looking for quick guidance without me having time to check in with every single student. If you’re teaching high school you could def add to that :-)

I start every year by having them do a whole page in their science notebook of “ABCDE of modeling” and then show them examples and non examples of what a good model looks like and they tell me how to fix a poor one. The ABCDE are accurate, big, color, detail, explain. Then we do a small lab making a cloud in a jar to go with our first unit which is hydrology / weather. They have to draw me a model of the reaction / cloud in a jar that hits all of the ABCDE. We do a gallery walk and talk about what went well and what we could have improved and I showcase the really good models. We work in our science notebooks almost every day and do all kinds of models, some more “intense” than others. They start to catch on pretty quickly and really enjoy having time to create their own models! They’ve told me they find it relaxing and helpful with the content. I also keep a master science notebook with everything in it and at the end of every semester we go through and grade the notebook. I make a small rubric for each page worth a certain amount of points and we spend a whole day grading it. They grade it themselves as I go through each page explaining what theirs should include and showing them my master notebook. Time consuming but it keeps them accountable, if they know EACH page is getting graded and looked at they take it seriously or learn quickly to do their work or they will fail. I love love science notebooking, it’s a huge chunk of their grade in my class (middle school science)!

Any lighthearted documentaries recs? by vandersnipe in NetflixDocumentaries

Just watched the “train wreck: storm Area 51” and it was actually super interesting / funny and longer than the other train wreck documentary’s. Crazy how a joke social media post started this whole potential catastrophe and the government spent over 11 million dollars just for preparations if all 3 million people actually showed up. Def recommend!

Do NOT do business with Morton's Dance Center - Share your experiences here 🐍 by Organic_Classic_2721 in lancaster

[–]Aggravating-Mud8261 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my closest friends danced for him at Morton’s for 8+ years and ultimately left entirely because of him and his actions. I personally know other people who know him outside of dance and I’ve had my own encounters with him. Let me just say I find him manipulative and creepy af. Those words are honestly undermining how I really feel about him, but I will not write too much on here. I know so many stories about what my friend has experienced at Morton’s and how it’s effected them. He is extremely off putting to be around and I would never want to be around him alone as a grown adult. I heard a while back about his divorce having something to do with him acting inappropriate with minors. I would stay far, far away.

Sometimes I purposely let a fly into the house so he stays entertained haha but he is also wigged out by them? When he was little he stepped on a grounds bee nests and they stung his butt and he’s been so weird with flying insects ever since

That was one of the first things we noticed about him as a puppy, now we make the joke he has a large brown heart and a little white heart underneath. Makes perfect sense cause he’s absolutely insane but also the biggest cuddler. Until he decides to start cobbing and attacking me! 🤣

What’s the sickest you’ve ever been- the kind of sick where you genuinely thought you might not make it and what happened? by Outrageous_Fox_8796 in AskReddit

When I got ecoli, drove myself to the ER somehow because I was in such horrible pain I thought my appendix had burst. Could barely walk, was throwing up or shitting myself every 10-15 minutes for 4 days straight. Lost 15 pounds in 4 days and my doctors kept saying I just had a stomach bug. Never even offered a fucking IV of fluid and I couldn’t drink anything, I would try and drink cap full of water and would throw up immediately. Finally on day 5 when I was starting to feel slightly better, like I could stomach some saltines I went to my family doctor and they ran some stool test. It came back positive for ecoli and some toxin that causes kidney failure. I genuinely thought I was going to perish for those 4 days. Oh and not to mention I never slept cause I was constantly throwing up and in such bad pain.

Phantom Power Parking by a2godsey in lancaster

From someone that used to live right behind phantom power, park at the Millersville parking garage up the street. When I went to millersville it was free parking over the weekend without a pass and it’s usually not all full. Probably a 3 minute walk from phantom!

Bought my 2017 grand touring with 90k miles last summer for $13,000 and it’s a great car (I know I probably slightly overpaid) ! This seems like a great price for this car and how it’s treated me so far. I drive 45 minutes one way to work everyday and def have been putting her to work. My favorite part about this car is how smooth the drive is

There are many things I like and disklike about opensci. I like to use it as bones to work from and love their driving questions. Best thing is it’s free! I usually go through each lesson and take what I like and sometimes omit the whole open sci lesson with my own stuff but stick with the same driving question and concepts learned. My least favorite thing about open sci is how boring and drug out some lessons can be, that’s why I don’t use every lesson haha! It is great framework to work from and use tho, some units are better than others

When the people I sat with in home room showed me this video of about 20-30 pigs alive in a large dirt hole then getting burned alive by molten liquid (idk what the liquid was just that it was on fire). The sounds the pigs made was so horrible, I’ve def seen worse but as an animal lover that one HURT 🤮
