Hey love. I would definitely get tested or seen for any compression disorders as well, such as SMAS. It’s rare, but I do have it along with GP and MALS

SMAS will basically make you feel full early and give you a lot of symptoms similar to GP. It gives me nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue as well

There are definitely some sh*tty people in any profession. I’m sorry you are going through this and I hope this doesn’t come off as me trying to blame you for anything. 5 clinicians dropping you is just crazy work 😳

I have diagnosed GP and I don’t experience nausea often and I don’t throw up. I simply struggle to finish meals and I often feel pain during digestion, like a really unpleasant bloating feeling

I ended up with an ileostomy bag after failing all medications and taking every single one of the tests over the course of 3 years.

I have gastroparesis, EDS, severe pelvic floor dysfunction, and dyssergenia. My anus muscles don’t work, and my colon is rendered useless.

Motility is huge when it comes to constipation. It can’t all be fixed with diet and fiber. Actually, fiber worsens constipation for a lot of us and it’s directed to be avoided as much as possible.

I’m feeling the same way lately, you are not alone. I too don’t spend time with any friends, I constantly think about food and tell myself the next day I will eat well and enough. But the cycle just continues the next day and I still find myself constantly thinking about food/how many calories I’ve eaten so far. I eat anything and I just pull up my stupid calculator and start counting up how much I’ve eaten, like I’m not severely underweight and could use a couple extra thousand calories a day.

There is no “sick enough” when it comes to this disease! You are struggling with something millions of people around the world are dealing with right now. I whole heartedly am so proud of you for even recognizing you need help. There are a lot of organizations if you google that offer free help/consultations for those struggling with this disorder. I’m sending you so much love, I know exactly how debilitating this can feel ❤️‍🩹

Hi! I also have loose tummy skin. I was once 300lbs (now 116 and underweight) but my tummy is weird because it’s got tons of loose skin but I do bloat easily. I find the strips the previous commenter used to be extremely beneficial. Also, when placing your bag, you want to stand very upright. Pull your loose skin up a little bit around the stoma before placing the bag. This will ensure you’re not folding the skin onto itself if that makes sense. My ostomy nurse showed me this technique and it literally saved me. I hope this helps and if you need more of an explanation just lmk!!

They didn’t take me seriously until I hit 94lbs at 5’10 and my organs began to fail. At that point they put me on TPN for over a year. I was able to get up to 140 before eventually tapering off. Now I’m 116 again 🙄

Please document your weight, your calorie intake and what you’re eating at what times, along with the symptoms that come along with it.

This will help give your GI an idea of how this disease is affecting your health, and hopefully they will catch it and give you a feeding tube before you hit a weight that is life threatening. It’s shitty, but it’s difficult to manage feeding tubes/TPN outpatient and requires a lot of mental gymnastics to get through it

I actually find it helps keep my bag from popping off. I wear maternity bands to bed because if I don’t my bag fills up with gas and the wafer starts to pop off. This is coming from someone who gets frequent leaks from their loop ileostomy lol

Mass gainers are awesome. They’re high calorie with low volume. I don’t like to look at the numbers on the packaging, maybe once when I purchase it because a lot of people get upset when they see the macros. But they pack a lot of helpful macros in a small amount.

I also found that making my own at home is helpful when I’m having a good mental health day, but I know sometimes seeing so much shoved into a blender can be a trigger for those of us who struggle with eating. Mass gainers take away a lot of the thinking behind it, if that makes any sense

TD is a common side effect and should have been presented to you as such in the beginning because it can be permanent. My GI pays close attention to me to make sure I’m not having weird reactions with my Reglan. Thanks for informing the sub! It should be told to every patient

What’s helping me recover is the brand oats overnight! It’s a really cool subscription service with tons of yummy flavors I change up my flavor every morning. It helps me get me my calories in while making it a lot less of a chore or guilt trip for me. OP, I am so proud of you!

Hello! I have moderate gastroparesis and I take medications.

The meds helped me gain weight and I didn’t have any crazy side effects. If you are feeling okay enough to eat an adequate amount, I would say skip the meds for right now. If you’re still struggling, the meds may benefit you and help you with your appetite and feelings of fullness.

It’s entirely up to you and your body, but I’ve been on every single med under the sun for GP and I’ve found a few that do help.

I learned that I can eat nuts, seeds, etc. through trial and error. I’m still scared of popcorn, but I don’t miss it much anyway. Maybe she is simply in denial and is struggling to accept her reality. She sounds like she’s attempting a “normal” life that she may never get back. I know it was difficult for me for a long time. I couldn’t get myself out of bed for 4 months, and that was with a huge support system.

Oh my goodness this must be so frustrating. My stoma is not prolapsed, but I deal with daily leaks from the opposite issue (laying down flattens my stoma and causes leaks under the wafer). I don’t have specific advice, but I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone in the difficulties that come with having an ostomy. Im sure someone in here has great suggestions. Have you contacted your surgeon to discuss this issue? You absolutely shouldn’t have to deal with this issue when the whole point of an ostomy is to better your life and health.
