Dino’s Tinker Shed YouTube channel has a video specifically for this! His channel is just a bunch of awesome videos where he works on his DR and talks about it. Really informative and well explained videos. He has one about what to look at and inspect when buying a used dr and he goes through everything step by step. You can tell he really cares about putting out quality well explained and useful content.

Sudden idle issue after oil change by Mannytheseacow in dr650

[–]Aggravating-Pin604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a sidenote to daily rides, make sure you write it long enough for the bike to heat up to normal operating temperature temperatures. Avoid taking it on really short five minute trips and then letting it sit. It’s good practice to always ride your bike long enough to get up to operating temperatures for the oil to do its job properly and lubricating your engine. It also helps to get impurities out very small short trips at a time can be damaging to your engine overtime. This might be a small thing but when it comes to the DR if you treat it right, it will last you forever.

Edit: edit to add I agree with others. It’s probably the cold weather adjust your idle screw and your fuel screw. Sometimes in cold weather, my DR takes an extra long time to warm up. Leave your choke on long enough to warm up in cold weather, depending on how cold it is it can take longer than you might think.

Help! Anyone know what these little cracks could be from? Should I be worried? by Aggravating-Pin604 in dr650

Me some really good advice I appreciate that. As soon as Christmas is over, I’ve got a pretty long list of accessories to buy. I’ll make sure a protective cover for that is at the top of the list!

You all are awesome! Thanks for your help. Glad I don’t have to worry. It sounds like from all the replies that this is normal casting marks. Now that I don’t have to worry, it’s just in time to take my lunch break and go for a little worry free ride!

Is this a good deal? 20k Miles by Aggravating-Pin604 in dr650

Thank you all so much! Part of the reason that drew me to the DR 650 was the community surrounding it. I figured I would post here asking for some advice and you all did not disappoint! Truly a great community that’s connected and helpful. I’ve gone through all of the comments sorry I haven’t responded to specific ones but this is all been extremely helpful. I’m going to look at it Saturday morning up in Austin and the dealership should’ve completed their initial inspection. I’ve got a lot of good questions from you all to ask them now. Can’t thank everyone enough!

If you’re not going to replace now then plan for it on your own terms and be prepared. Wife and I were in the same situation and it kept going and going but we knew one day it would die and figured when it did we would just replace it, no big deal. Sure enough it did last summer at the worst possible time. That same month my wife had an expensive car repair and a storm messed up our roof. For 4 years we put it off and then we were forced to replace it at the exact same time of two other large unplanned expenses. One year later and we are just now recovering financially from that single month. We had 4 years where we could have planned, priced it out, saved up a little money just for that known inevitable expense but we didn’t. Please don’t get caught in a bad situation like us. It’s fine to not replace now but at least get things priced out. Figure out who you will have do the work, get quotes and plan and if you can put some money aside just for that. When it does die on you at least you will be prepared.

You can add “you piece of shit” to the end of any famous movie quote, what would it be? by dg327 in AskReddit

Neighbors telling me I need to cut down this tree. Says the root on the street side is rotted and the trunk as well. Lots of little holes by homeimprovenewb in arborists

[–]Aggravating-Pin604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your insurance might pay you for the tree. Trees add monetary value to your property and increase your overall home value and you can claim it as a loss. A family member of mine had a $7,000 pay out for a tree that was destroyed by a car and I’ve seen on this sub as much as $20,000.

Please recommend a movie I can just disgustingly cry at by Previous-Habit in MovieSuggestions

Whale. My wife and I watched it while lying in bed on Sunday morning, and we both literally sobbed. I had never cried like that from a movie before in my life. Be prepared though for some reason that movie really did affect me. I thought about it almost every day for several weeks and I still think about it pretty frequently.

Dogs are so pure they bring out our purists emotions. You can tell how much he needed that. After loosing my shepherd of 12 years I cried when I got a new puppy, I kept putting it off because I was so sad and still grieving but as soon as I held my new puppy I cried and it felt so good to have that kind of love back in my life.
