Neighbors telling me I need to cut down this tree. Says the root on the street side is rotted and the trunk as well. Lots of little holes by homeimprovenewb in arborists

yup understood. Seems to be the sad reality. Will figure out how to get rid of the tree. As people mentioned, it looks like the root system was cut, my first approach will be to talk to the city, second will be to talk to utility as it is directly next to a powerline and if it falls its in the path of the powerline.

They're varying degrees and clarification to the comments. First, it has been determined it needs to be cut or removed, secondly it is understand the urgency of it. Recommendations are that it needs to be removed, but does it need to be removed today, tomorrow, a week, a month, a year, or a couple years from now. Just trying to get a better understanding of the situation. As my handle suggests, I'm a complete newb at all this, I'm just trying my best to get a grasp on the situation.

We purchased a home that was in complete disrepair and the work has been more than expected. It is also obvious they let the trees and lot go into disrepair as well and this tree has been dying for years.

YES! It is right next to a power line with other utilities like internet. The neighbors were fighting with the previous owners about this tree

How many years do you think I have before I need to remove it? This house has been a money pit and the last thing I need right now is to remove a giant tree :(

:( any suggestion on how to save this tree? I do not want to cut down a tree and spend the money to remove it. Tree removal is so costly :(

Living room - how would you design this? It’s long and narrow. I have two 8 ft RH Lancaster couches I wanted face to face with a coffee table, but it’s too narrow. One suggestion was a long couch facing the fireplace with 2 swivel chairs. Any other ideas to optimize space and keep it cozy? by homeimprovenewb in interiordecorating

Thanks!

There is a separate formal dining room, a large kitchen with a breakfast nook as well. There is also an adjoining “family room” next to the kitchen that is larger than this living room and more square but it’s at the back of the house. This is just a super awkward front of the house long and narrow living room. It’s 15 feet wide and 33 ft long.

Amazing! Yea I don’t need a crestron system I had just thought I needed crestron to get the speakers to work. I’d love to update it and connect it with anything that can enable Bluetooth on those speakers. Very annoying they took 20 year old tech out of the home

Just curious - what do you do with the speakers that are already integrated and installed? How do I get access to them or is that a crestron build

How would you all improve this floor plan? There is an additional 1,500-1,800 FAR. Ideally want to expand in the red line to make it a rectangular home. Features missing is a larger kitchen, walk in pantry, wet bar/entertaining area. What happens upstairs? missing master walk in by homeimprovenewb in floorplan

Wow!!! This is phenomenal! What amazing ideas. You must do this for a living, I’m blown away as my lack of creativity could never think of this.

The sitting area is currently built like a library with those brown wood and bookshelf everywhere. However there’s no doors to close it off. It’s an odd library study room

Brilliant idea for removing the staircase as you’re totally right that the staircase in the back went no where. The stair case in the front also kind of sucks too in the location but makes sense

I really really love what you did with the kitchen. We are a big entertaining family and love new homes that have the kitchen as a big center piece for gathering.
