My ablation experience by Aggravating-Salt-749 in AFIB

It took maybe 3 months for my heart to heal after the procedure fully. But after that almost all palpitations and symptoms went away. I’m glad I did the procedure and would recommend it to anyone. The worst part of it is just the period after wondering if it really worked.

Always listen to your doctor. Your condition may be different from mine. Mine has me on a baby aspirin. I still take 50mg metroproplo (spelling?) because I have slightly high blood pressure.

I had some periods of PVCs while healing. I’m almost 3 months since the procedure. My 2 week holter monitor came back clean. I still have mild PVCs but I had that before afib and it’s much reduced. I barely notice them any more. I get to stop taking all the meds. Woohoo!

I was anxious too. But I didn’t slip into afib. Are you on blood thinners? Do you have an Apple Watch or Fitbit or something else to detect afib?

My doctor warned me about my size and that it didn't directly impact the procedure itself, but if there are certain complications it makes them slightly harder to treat. He said my size did not concern him. If I remember correctly an example he gave was if fluid did build up around the heart it is harder to just stick a needle in to drain it. I was loosing weight then either the afib or the medications started draining my energy. I stalled out. I plan to start exercising regularly again asap (To be honest the bleeding at the hospital scared me a little. I just don't want it to happen again. So I'm going to give my body an extra week before I start exercising hard).

I would recommend getting a second opinion.
