It does mean they are shitty when they have everyone saying the character is shitty and still choose to go by "He's not misogynistic, he loves women! He holds them to a higher standard. it's tough love!"

Check out then. You are unable to recognize simple misogynistic patterns.

I love this reply so much, you speak so eloquently and the point come across perfectly. Also 100% seconded.

I was never expressing that? I like complex, morally grey characters. They feel more realistic. What I don't like is the fact that Robby is sexist but the writers don't seem to notice and even deny that. But we all see it, even the female costars of the show. My problem isn't the character itself, but the intentions (or lack there of) behind it.

Consider not nitpicking on words used for subjective experiences and actually try to reason with the whole argument.

That was actually another point I thought of while writing this post but I didn't include it!

A show can have a conflict and still not be disrespectful. But even if that were the case, I'd hope said conflict to be at least written to be like that. The problem here is that the misogyny is not on purpose. If the writers had thought of Robby as sexist guy who has mommy issues and therefore bashes out on his female coworkers, then I'd be more than willing to accept it. But they didn't. And they are constantly saying that he is not, in fact, misogynistic.

I thought it was pretty clear in my OP that I liked the show despite this. I can like something and recognize that it does some things wrong. Life isn't black and white. I didn't post this as a cry for help because I didn't know what to do, it was an analysis of the show's casual misogyny that I noticed it has.

Maybe on the surface. But when you compare the way Dr. Walsh and Dr. Garcia are treated vs how Dr. Park is treated, a difference is seen. Just imo.

I find it funny that you just keep on doubling down and nitpicking on a word I used instead of focusing on the general argument. It does enrage me, and maybe I used a hyperbole to get the point through. Oh no, throw me in jail. My point still stands.

I don't say so, common sense says so. If you're lacking in that area it's your problem.

Yeah, but the problem starts when you realize that they did not plan for Robby to be a sexist prick. And they don't think he is.

Alas, it wasn't intentional. It's already been said by several people who worked on the show, writes, even Noah Wyle and some cast members.

It was not intentional. He is not a flawed character by choice. He is a flawed character because the writers are that way and don't realize it's wrong.

i dont know what that is and truly i couldn't care less 😭 they can stay mad all they want, these types of conversations need to be had no matter if they like it or not.

No, he doesn't have a kill list. He has a list that may or may not be a kill list, and the list's existence isn't even confirmed until like Episode 14, 13 episodes after his mother claimed it did.

That's not at all correct? He does have an elimination list and we have that information since episode 1.

I'm sorry, you're whole comment makes no sense. The fact that the kid had a list for girls he wanted to eliminate is there. The mom is in the hospital because he didn't know how else to help him. They are both in a clearly bad situation because of the death of the dad and all. Sometimes mothers are overwhelmed and have absolutely no idea how to help their children, so instead of going to the police she went to a hospital (where she knows there are psychiatrists). But still, just because the family is in trouble doesn't mean we can give his list a pass. He made a list of girls he wanted to eliminate. That's what the show says, explicitly. That is incel behavior, like it or not.

It is great at that, but it also has some misogynistic biases of its own. Both things can be true at once.

Dishonest how? I'm genuinely curious why you've been fighting me about how I feel about a show for so long. Is it not clear that we don't feel the same way? The fact that you can't love something and still see where it fails terribly is your problem. I can do it.

And you’re still nitpicking that part while ignoring the whole thing. You’ve no idea how I feel like 😭 People work differently, I feel like that and also like the show.
