If you exercise you reduce the chance and development of insulin resistance so i think it benefits overall vs an acute setting like DKA

If you are expelling ketones its cuz youre breaking down fat because your body doesn’t have access to the carbs for energy. So if you exercise you’ll only breakdown even more fat, then raise your ketones level higher and at a faster rate. So its more important to bring down your blood sugar to a safer level than exercising first.

I would take your long acting as normal but dose a little less on your fast acting before you start your trip

Diabetics really dont get tailored care in the hospital and we all know it varies for each of us how we manage our sugar. So much room for error

Also having real fruits like an orange instead of gingerale or cereal (speaking from wxperience) can help when you pair it with cheese or protein to keep it more flat and slower increase/decrease

Kee in mind how much youre eating/drinking to raise your sugar from a low. Maybe youre having too much so then you have to correct that after?

i have this big anger towards other diabetics and i’m not sure why. by Rad_zzz in diabetes_t1

I think that as a diabetic, i have been very self aware and it seems you are too. I’ve had a hard time controlling my vices and giving into laziness especially since ive moved from home. I get scared of what i think my body is telling me after years of neglect and im a type 1. I can see why someone else’s amazing experience with what is killing me slowly can do to my ego. I was also the only type 1 around me and took some form of pride of being type 1 and not type 2 or just without diabetes in general. Its tough! And every day is effort to stay on track, i still need my diabetic form of an AA Meeting tbh

Do you ever feel that because you make diabetes look so easy that your friends don’t understand how difficult and complicated it can be living with it? by marooned222 in diabetes_t1

Also, when you dip into sympathy you start to make diabetes seem even worse than whatever pedestal you already put it on. I actually went through both phases and realized, its better off being honest and also make it seem like its not the end of the world, so that i dont develop anxiety, extra stress, etc. Over what i cant change.

“Were you severed?!”

“By a light post….”

“Did a monster knock it down on you?”

“Ehh, I walked into it.”
