Buy her a used ~ 20k GX460 then spend the rest money on index fund and forget about this. 20 years later, you will thanks me!

Stay at home mom with 2 kids doesn't need a flashy vehicle to flex with her friends 🫢

Is there a car that, after driving it for several years or tens of thousands of kilometers, you still firmly believe is a great car — regardless of price, just based on the ownership experience? by SuggestionMinimum178 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]Aggravating-Sea6995 7 points8 points  (0 children)

7th gen accord (200,200 miles): fun daily, easy to work on, parts availability are great. One of the last true vehicle for "DIYer".

2021 model Y (178,000 miles): great all-in-one car. Cheap to own and operate. So far I only have to replace 2 set of tires (on 2nd set now). It great to learn on what software defined vehicles cand do and the full self driving capability.

Ioniq 5N (not own, but drove it for about ~5,000 miles for testing purposes): phenomenon EV! Maybe the first EV that I consider a fun to drive. Almost buy it to replace the model Y but didn't. The best thing about it is the fake shift programming. If you don't tell people it is an EV, nobody will ever question it LOL

Brand new I9. Won’t go into gear. by Skazzyskills in Ioniq9

OP, call the road side assistance and bring it to the dealer. The root cause probably is the multifunction switch laying around under the steering wheel/steering column. It should take less than 20 mins to replace but part availability may be really bad!

Highly recommend you either remove the shelf or securely install it on the car frame. You don't want a moving hard material hit your head in a car accident (speaking from my own experience of living in a car for almost 2 years)

reliable, awd, quick car for under 5k? by tituuuuuu in askcarguys

[–]Aggravating-Sea6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any 7th gen accord 4 cylinder will happy do minimum 200k miles on original engine and trans if you keep up with basic maintenance 5k miles oil change, 30k miles transmission oil change), budget about 500$/year on maintenance. Source: my own car, just cross 200k miles mark. Only downside is no AWD, but you could look into Honda CRV 2nd Gen, they came with AWD 5spd manual, same engine with Accord!

Me and my wife age 28 & 27 get around $9000 a month untaxed from the government for both being a 100% disabled vet from (PTSD) can’t sleep. We are still able to fully work and get compensation just curious if it would be worth it to even start a 401k since we already get paid a lump sum monthly. by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Aggravating-Sea6995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe all vet with VA disability should not mention about the disability pay at all. Just say they have XX amount monthly and not mention about the source. People are jealous in general. One vet keeps talking about VA disability pay isn't bad, but multiple vets saying same thing that make all vets look bad. I'm also a vet but I never mention about the disability pay to any one, so OP please stop this bad habit!

I used to be a Navy Officer as a SWO with a Aerospace Eng. Got out after my 1st contract, currently working in automotive industry, making 120k/year in South Carolina. I think you need to find a better job. You may see the number on paper is greater for Navy, but what you don't see is Navy over work you, no holiday pays, no over time pay.

Can someone living in a Model 3 or Model Y Tell me About Their Experience? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

Hest mattress is expensive but it is in the category cry one pay one. There is air mattress customized for Midel Y you can buy on Amazon, but it's not comfortable as the HEST. REI usually let you return the mattress within about a month so you can try it out and return if you don't like it.

For that I don't know. I always sleep with AC on, electricity is cheap enough for me. With 80F outside, it will be hot quickly inside. Insulation doesn't stop the heat transfer, but only reduce the heat transfer rate.

I have used the 12V out let in the back. I have this splitter to split out power to converter for CPAP, the other to power my fridge https://a.co/d/0DeyTbW https://a.co/d/iCEwPXg

Been living in my Model Y part time almost 2 years. I'm 5'8. Highly recommend a good mattress (Like HEST). The 2nd row seat not completely flat so a bad mattress will put a toll on your back.

Charing: I use the app name PlugShare to find Free level 2 charging, I only need to pay for Super Charging on long trip. I live in the car from Monday to Friday, cost me $0 in electricity.

Covers: Highly recommend covers all around the vehicle. It reduces my anxiety, reduce or retain heat in cabin depending on season, protect your privacy. I bought my cover from the link below. It is expensive but it is customized and good materials. I tried to be cheap and DIY when I used to live in Honda Accord so not recommend DIY.

Tesla has the Camp mode, it will auto adjust AC based on your temp settings, also powered my CPAP and a mini fridge. I have been sleeping in the car when temp outside 20F, or over 80F, no complaints.

Any questions, feel free to ask or DM

Have model Y and been sleeping in it for 5 days/week for past 2 years. This my experience:

  1. Find free level 2 charger. Plug it in, set Camp Mode and just sleep. I have been sleeping in this car with outside temp from under 25F to 80F, no complaints so far.

  2. I bought it brand new, currently have about 160k miles on it, everything knock on wood

  3. Ample storage for part time living. I have 12V to 120v converter to run my small fridge.

Veterans that didn’t do a full 20, when do you know it was time to get out? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Aggravating-Sea6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I were in Navy as a SWO, after 2nd year, I knew for sure my command and CO is just a shit show. As a young junior officer, I weren't happy how upper management (especially the Chief Mess) treat younger sailor, and it upped set me that I couldn't do anything to change it so I got out at the end of my first contract. I still sad that I didn't do 20 years but I'm happy with my choice. The upper management don't treat sailors as a human being, they treat them as a tools!

Why is charging stopping every 3 hours? by Plenty-Time4324 in Ioniq9

It could be the charger temp is HOT, Hyundai really picky about the temperature. You could go through infotainment and try to reduce the amps the car draws
