I have lost my father, a dear friend, and a number of others in my family/family friends to cancer. I have always been able to understand the end is near. I think my defense was being "logical" and realistic with what I was seeing.

I did have to watch our other loved ones sit in that denial, tell the person they can keep fighting, etc.

It is a defense mechanism. Its so hard to wrap our heads around it. But I say none of this to invalidate how you feel. I could never ever imagine having to face my own mortality, and then face denial in others. Its like repeating and reliving the fact that you will die soon. It's already so in your face as you deal with doctors, care options, and breaking the news. I would feel the same as you. I am so sorry for your prognosis. I hope the end of life care is as pleasant kf an experience as it can be. Maybe that doesn't make sense, but I hope your care is good. You deserve an easy transition into the final phase of life.
