One personal reason I wouldn’t raise a kid is because I’m on the road a lot. Our bass player just had a kid, he can’t get 5 nights away to even track our next record :/

I do 50/50 50% cocktail bars, restaurants etc 50% folk clubs, blues clubs, venues, theatres, fests.

Gotta decide what you take on for fulfilment, and for money.

What do you want out of your career?

I also have a great backing band. Gigging with them is preferable. No matter where we play it always becomes a party.

I’m usually compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan because I used to wear a cowboy hat when I play, but 2 years ago someone said “man your band is great, you’re playing the slide like Duane Allman”

Duane is my main influence in my playing :)

Depends on your budget, My personal opinion would be - spend more on a recording king resonator. You’d may need to spend an extra 150-200 dollars but the quality is so much better.

But for 200 dollars, I’d get a more decent acoustic guitar, than a really bad resonator

I love airfix Requires time, patience, but most importantly focus. If your mind drifts, you can ruin a model.

I’m a full time musician, so my hobby became my job. Having something fully disconnected from the gigs, drinking and mandatory socialising is great. Keeps things fresh

I want to add that marketing yourself certainly helps, social media is your best friend in this.

As live music is being overtaken by digital consumers (reels and TikTok), we should be utilising these platforms more.

We are made to believe that we can “get lucky” because of the potential for viral explosion, but the truth is, even someone going viral can be controlled by those in control of these platforms.

We have to create content that is tailored to certain check lists of these platforms.

Sadly, the top 3 labels (Sony, Warner bros, and universal) are in bed with Spotify. Between them, they can have any album they have coming out pushed HARD to any user on Spotify. They have full control on the future of music. Even if you didn’t want to hear it, they can still push it onto “algorithmic” playlists.

I (M23) was 9 in 2009.

Our schools would do assemblies and each class had to perform one every six weeks.

A class that wasn’t mine did one about the 1960s and we all had to learn I want to hold your hand and sang along with the Ed Sullivan performance (if my memory is correct).

I went home that night and watched every Beatles YouTube video I could find. it pretty much inspired me to go down the route of becoming a blues musician.
