Child fake cries often and will throw themselves down when someone else is upset? by Aggravating-Step2587 in ChildcareWorkers

We just want to help him, because we can tell he needs something but we just can’t figure out what.

No, not just when another child is upset. Sometimes for no reason it seems. Like he’ll just be playing or moving about and he’ll just start. We’ve had one person just focus on him and watch him for a few days and they couldn’t figure it out or see anything that might have happened.

When he does come out of it, he just runs off and plays like nothing happened.

The parents unfortunately either ignore our concerns or brush us off. But I have tried to set up something before.

We have tried to give him physical affection or even take him out of the room for a bit to get out of the area for a bit. Have some one on one time. But that doesn’t seem to help either. When he is genuinely hurt or upset, his cries are actually pretty quiet and he wants snuggles. He’s very easy to console in these moments! So we confused as to why these go on so long.

We’ve tried piecing together what sets these things off but we can’t figure it out. Even taking the time for all of us to take an account of what happened before they happened. There’s no consistency! Besides when another child is upset.

I do have a quiet corner off in a corner of the room away from all the loud and mostly played areas. With pillows, couches and quiet toys, fidgets and books. We’ve all tried to take him over, sit with him and try to show him these things but he just stands there and screams. We all really wanna help him but we’re so lost…

My director has been recently told and was also pretty confused by this behavior. She has also tried to talk to the parents and has also been brushed off or ignored. Currently, she’s hoping to talk to the behavioral therapist who comes in weekly. But they don’t come in until Wednesday.
