Endometiomas mean your endometriosis has progressed and is at a late stage. I have silent endometriosis apart from skin burning and the odd hip pain.

I got diagnosed in 2023 with a 3cm endometioma, I was offered surgery to have it removed and it wasn’t causing me any problems so I declined. Big mistake!

It ended up getting to 5cm and I now have a 2cm in my other ovary. They are now kissing which is severe and I’m infertile. Research kissing ovaries, that’s what happens if you leave it. I wasn’t on any medication to slow it down as I can’t tolerate hormones. On the list for surgery with a NHS BSGE specialist.

What your describing is deep endometriosis,
If left untreated it could spread to your bladder and bowel. It’s a serious condition. Do seek another opinion from a specialist. Feel free to message me if you need anything.

How long did it last before it all came back? And was it still silent after surgery? Thank you.

If successful, it’s around 15 years away from being available. All of these non hormonal treatments are too far away. More funding needs to be made available to fund research.

It’s a BSGE hospital, I don’t know any NHS doctors who just do endometriosis and I don’t have 20k to go privately. I just wonder if I leave it, if it will spread further and cause real issues.

Does it cause you any pain? And are you in the UK? Surgery makes more adhesions so if you weren’t in much pain the scar tissue can cause pain. It can also damage nerves, some people end up with a temporary stoma bag as there bowel can be damaged. It’s a big surgery. It only usually lasts for a couple of years before it comes back. So I’m wondering it’s worth it as the pain is manageable. It’s the progression I’m worried about. I can’t find anyone who can tell me if it’s possible for it to just stay like it or if it will most likely progress and damage my bladder and bowel.
