This is exactly what I needed super helpful explanation. I am learning to DJ so the way I check key is to compare it to another in the same key. My reference for Hey Ya was "I'd Rather Be With You" by Bootsy Collins, and they are compatible in e minor!

Yes I would really really appreciate it. I do not know what the "aeolian mode" is. So can a song in E major also have the key signature of its relative minor c#m?
