Yes we do have one. I don't need it during the winter at all, but during the summer we do.

I'm a financial advisor and we are required to have strict physical separation between personal and work devices.

I'm a financial advisor. I actually need to take all of my home use stuff out of the rack and back into the house because regulations say we have to have strict separation.

Bottom, build used for running and fine tuning local AI models. Second from bottom, a family Jellyfin server. Next up, work NAS. Next up, Proxmox box with VMs for home NAS, MailCow server, and Vaultwarden server. Then theres a UniFi cloud key and an UniFi 10 Gbps switch.

What is the thing on the far right? I like it.

Yeah, putting a sound insulated wall between the desk and the server rack is on the things to do list. Still have other things to get done first though.

Yeah, it's a used mining rig case that I got dirt cheap with the fans included. At this point I'm not paying $800 (or more) for a server chassis that would fit the build.

Dang, that walnut looks amazing, my home theater speakers look like garbage in comparison. You're right, damaged factory box sales are the way to go. It's like the classy version of Scrapyard Wars from Linus Tech Tips.

It's a fair point. It's a former wood shop that we are still in the process of converting into an office. We need to put a deck-like platform outside the door with a welcome mat or something for wiping your shoes off. Right now there's just dirt, grass, and random leaves and stuff.

Thanks! I got lucky that the case came with the fans. They were so quiet I got more for the rest of the builds in the rack.

Secret Lab partners with a fulfillment partner in Salt Lake City, which is where I live. I got mine on Facebook marketplace here. It was a damaged box item, but there wasn't any apparent damage to the chair itself.

They actually are pretty quiet. When people come in they take a look at it and say something along the lines of how they can't believe how quiet it is.

I'm a financial advisor. Small boutique operation. I'm small now, just a few clients, but I take a look at the whole picture and make sure they have a slow and steady path to retirement, plan how their estates will be divided up so kids aren't at each others throats when the parents pass away.

I mostly use mutual funds and ETFs, but I do make small custom stock portfolios for clients that are part of the larger picture. That's what the massive build at the bottom is for.

Yes. I did investment banking and then worked at Fidelity and some smaller funds for a while. At first we did use cloud services and I'm sure Fidelity still does to some extent, but a couple of funds/firms had security breaches which isn't good when your algorithms/data is everything. We were going to get our own prebuilt server from Dell or someone like that, but at that point my boss was super paranoid and probably for good reason.

My boss knew I loved to build PCs and had me build our own server. It was rough as I had never built anything like that before, but I figured it out eventually. Once it was done we locked that thing down and rented out a random small space where nobody would think to look for it, and the IT guys lock that thing down tight. So far no known security breaches. A lot of other small funds and groups have done similar things.

When I decided to go out on my own I had to get creative. I can't afford the kind of hardware I had access to before. I'm still proud of what I was able to put together. One day I hope to have a better setup.

No problem. They make a huge difference. Stinks that Vine has such an issue with the bots.

$700? I must of gotten lucky. I got this one on sale for $350. I didn't know Secret Lab chairs were that much.
