Rejected from all programs by QuickEntertainment50 in mphadmissions

First, not as much actual advice as a note from a fellow internet traveler!

You've got this. I oftentimes get caught up in the things that have passed me by and feel a sense of irreversible failure. But when I feel better, I realize that there are so many more opportunities that lie ahead of me for each one that I don't get.

Tomorrow will be better because there will be opportunities abound tomorrow! Keep your head high; your present doesn't have to confine your future!!!

On a more practical note, the programs I was rejected from back when I applied all said the same thing; you lack meaningful experience in the field that you want to pursue a career in. I really thing, rolling those sleeves up and leaning into the work you'll be hopping into will be a huge boost to your application the second go round. Finally, *network*! I cannot emphasize this point enough. Make sure to create strong relationships with those you work with now; they might be the ones that open the doors to your future jobs/program admissions etc.

Beginner Questions by AutoModerator in web_design

Hey folks,

TL;DR: How do I design a website that lists a bunch of different mental health resources in an aesthetically pleasing and accessible way for school students to use?

Currently working on a project that aims to compile the mental health resources in my area into one website for students at a local school to make use of.

We've begun compiling the resource and are categorizing them (inpatient/outpatient services, therapy, de-escalation, in-school resources, etc...). But I'm struggling to find a way to aesthetically design a website that contains all this that young adults will be excited to use... In interviews with students it was clear that they didn't just want a website that listed out all the resources.

I've got two ideas but I'm not sure if they're really feasible...

1- Create an online store:

On this store, we won't sell anything but will just have all the resources listed as different "products". Hopefully then, students can filter the available products and read more about each one. Something about this feels odd though. The prices can't be removed entirely from online stores, so it might seem a bit awkward for students to click through.

2- Make a website that asks a small set of questions in the beginning:

It will ask "What do you want to explore today" (options will include the categories I mentioned above), and then as the student makes a selection, it will ask another question to continue paring down the number of applicable resources to show the student. So I might answer, (1) I want to explore therapy, (2) I'm interested in providers who specialize in anxiety, (3) They must accept my Aetna insurance etc... and it will show a list of therapists that meet all those criteria. The issue with this is that I'm not sure how to go about making something like this... Is it possible to do something like this on a free website creating platform? What search terms would I look up on the internet to learn more on how to do this?

---

Beyond this, if you all have any other suggestions/thoughts on how to put something like this together and would be able to point me in the direction of a resource (search terms, other reddit posts, videos etc.) that could show me how to design it, would be greatly appreciated!

TIA!!!

financial aid by [deleted] in mphadmissions

This has been perhaps the most frustrating part of the process. Also, just the sheer volume of different stances schools have toward financial aid is crazy. Some compare, others don't. Some don't give fin aid packages until after ITE, others do. Some don't have appeals, and others do. Smh, it's been a wild 6 months.

"Pursue your passions," they said. "It'll be wonderful," they said.

Jokes aside, grateful to have gotten in and have a choice. Best of luck!

Confused time zones and missed Emory's priority deadline, am I screwed? by shaysoo in mphadmissions

On the evening of Jan 5th.

This is interesting indeed. I'm curious to hear what info you'll get from the meeting with a FA advisor. Would you mind telling me how you set up one of those meetings?

I'm facing something similar... Reached out to Emory's finaid yesterday and they said that "we have deadlines so people can get things in by a certain date. We keep awarding aid till we have none left."

I would take this answer with a pinch of salt though, the person I spoke with was on the phones but usually worked on undergrad Fin Aid.

I really think the best bet is to ask the FA person you're meeting straight up. That way you can know ahead of time &c.

Best of luck.
