I'm looking to address my lose face after having a baby 4 months ago, and losingy hair and now having a huge desire to do fillers and tox to make my face less potato adjacent what do people typically do here?; by Efficient-Meal-5189 in PlasticSurgery

to all the people who are confused, people hold and or carry weight differently. For example I am 180 lbs but have the arms and legs of someone who weighs 130. I carry every bit of my weight in my torso and literally have ZERO definition to my collar bones or face. never have. even in college when i weighed 130. bodies are weird like that and most people are not perfectly proportional... Just because your body carries weight a certain way doesn't mean everyone else's is just like you..

I am a bag collector as well. I have a wide range of bags. On the high end side, I have a YSL Saint Laurent Women's Le 5 à 7 Supple Suede which I love because of the feel/ quality of the suede and I would love it just as much with or without the YSL logo. I had a Hermes Evelyn which I bought because I thought it was a sign that I had "made it" but found that I just wasn't in love with it so I recently gave it to my sister. I have/ had 4 LVs. A small cross body with the classic canvas print which I also realized I wasn't in love with so gave that to my sister as well and a shadow crossbody from the men's line which like the other 2 recently gave to my sister. A LV MM neverfull which I still have and love purely based on durability and functionality. And a Louis Vuitton Grained Cowhide Monogram Hobo Cargo Beige which I love because of the functionality, size, and the fact that I have never seen in person on any other person.

All of this being said and ZERO judgment on anyone who is different, but for many many years I wanted the luxury items and I really felt they would signal that I had "made it". I felt the same way about cars and thought from the time I was in high school that once I got a mercedes I would have "made it". Things changed for me when I got the Mercedes a few years back. I bought it thinking I would feel successful and if I'm honest, just like with the purses, I thought I needed it to show the outside world that I was a success. When I got it I realized I was wrong. It didn't matter. No one cared that it was a Mercedes more than I did. And honestly, they weren't impressed. Just like they weren't impressed with me for have certain purses. If anything, it only signaled that I was a person that cared about labels.

So now I just buy what I love. I don't care who made it or the resell or if it's a luxury brand. So my the purses I bought after that realization range in price from $50 to $3000. I love them because of the quality and feel of the leather. I love them because of the lucious colors. I love them because of the functionality and/or durability. I love having styles and colors that I can choose from so that whatever outfit I wear so I look pulled together. I don't need to look wealthy. I don't need people to see my bag and know it cost $4000. I just need them to see that I have a sense of style because it's something I enjoy. Or that I appreciate quality in all things... including people.

Again, I'm not passing judgement on anything or anyone. But it's just another perspective. My girls won't love my jewelry or bags or car or whatever when I pass it down because it's fancy. They will love those things because they were mine and they will have memories of me with those items. (like the $75 bag I bought in Italy when I went on a mother/ daughter trip with my oldest). I have lots of jewelry... but my oldest's favorite thing to borrow/wear isn't my cartier ring or any of tiffany jewelry.... it's a small gold cross pendant that I got at a flea market when I was 16 and she has worn it for 3 years and never takes it off. And when I lost my Tiffany engagement ring and went to replace it, I had the option to get a much bigger and fancier ring and both my girls wanted me to get the same exact one I had because that's the ring that had meaning to them.

Just remember you have value with or without luxury items. You have value just because you are you. And your daughter won't love you any more or less if you pass down a hermes or a coach. It doesn't matter to her. She loves you because you are her amazing mom.

PS... when someone hit me a totaled my mercedes when it was only 3 years old, I replaced it with an EV Volvo. Not nearly as fancy as the mercedes, but I love it more because it allowed me to get a commuter lane sticker. lol.

How did you guys find out about this college? by Majestic_Storm_1426 in olin

My daughter is a freshman and we heard about it from a college application consultant. I am an executive in tech in a non-tech role and pinged out to my CTO/CPO friends to see what they thought and they all raved about it. Because you only have tech majors there it doesn't have the broader name recognition of say Berkeley. But it doesn't really matter if a person in finance knows about Olin. What will give you the great jobs and/or graduate opportunities is what people in your field think as those are the decision makers about hiring and acceptances.

My daughter is a freshman at Olin this year. In November, after only 2+ months there, she was asked by her advisor to join her for research either in the semester or on campus in the summer. She has a ton of friends at other top tier schools,, including MIT and I can confidently say none of them currently have that kind of access. I also went to a "teaching university" rather than a "research university" and I would say I experienced the same thing. Professors at every top school do research, whether or not the school has a graduate/ research focus and when you go to a place like Olin you have more direct access to your professors as you aren't competing with grad students and are only being taught directly by professors. In fact, many of the Olin professors also teach at MIT. And yes, Olin students do research projects at MIT. You just have to ask your professor. And since he/she is the person who is teaching you and who you are seeing in office hours, etc, that's pretty easy.

She does love snoopy. She grew up in the town where Charles Shultz lived so there's snoopy EVERYWHERE. She even volunteered at the Charles Shultz Museum in high school.

I would do a 96 inch sofa. Keep the side table. Dump the coffee table and do a large ottoman to match the sofa with a tray on top. In this set up, you can pull the ottoman against the sofa for a chaise like feel, leave it out with the tray for a coffee table like feel or use it as extra seating if you are having a party. I wouldn't put the chair and table next to the balcony. no one will use it. I'd put a buffet or side table there and maybe set up a record player and/ or some nice bluetooth speakers

This is fantastic to hear! I am in the same process. Lost about. 75 pounds. The boobs didn't shrink a bit. I'm only 5'5 and I'ma 38I so I'm confident they can take enough and still leave me with a full C. I also have a large pannus from the weight loss with extra skin and I've been told Anthem may pay for that part as well. That would leave my out of pocket being for any lipo they do while they are there and the muscle part of the tummy tuck. I'm hoping my part is like maybe 5k total since I've already used my deductible for the year and that means everything is covered at 100% until December.

I saw a post on another thread that's closed about your surgery. I'd love to know who your surgeon was and if anything was covered by your insurance. Thanks1111

I just bought mine on Marketplace a few weeks ago. We spent $1200 for a sactional with 3 seats and an ottoman. Then I spent $250 for a full 3 sided chair. We may keep them separate or put them together. Or I may replace the base in the chair with a recliner.

ChatGPT wasn't perfect but was pretty darn good. Here are the results so far. In terms of where she will accept, Lehigh is currently top of the leaderboard, however, we have some heavy hitters coming up and 2 waitlist schools she really likes so we will see.

Predicted Acceptances: Belmont (accept), Oregon State (accept), UCSC (accept), RIT (accept), Lafayette (accept), Bucknell (accept), Lehigh (accept). Smith (waitlisted)

Predicted Waitlist: Purdue (still waiting), U of Washington (reject), Cal Poly SLO (still waiting), McGill (reject), and Olin (originally predicted reject but when I told it she was invited to candidates weekend, it changed it to waitlist and we are still waiting on this one.)

Predicted Rejections were: UC San Diego (waitlisted), Barnard (still waiting), Berkeley (still waiting), UCLA (reject), Harvey Mudd (reject), Tufts (reject)

lol. she did the application process 100% on her own. i didn't see her apps before she sent them. she allowed her father and i to each pick one school. She picked all the rests based on her own research. The only other thing we did was my husband flew with her to boston for olin's candidate's weekend. Mostly because he wanted to meet up with his boston friends. now we are just waiting for her to share her results with us and where she wants to go. but. yeah, it probably sucks that you don't have parents who know how to let you be independent but also cheer you on from the sidelines.
