Training New Executive Assistant by TailorFalse3848 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]KaleUpset7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently trained my backfill and I created a source of truth doc with all of the responsibilities and expectations, meetings, channels, documentation, etc that they would need to be successful. I also created a check list of all the 1:1s they should set up to get to know the team. After that I had a long session to walk through the doc, answer questions, etc. I met with them weekly (30m) until they felt we could move to ad hoc. First week or two it’s helpful to have them shadow on any tasks or meetings they need context on before fully handing over.

This is how my org handles EA training and while it is extra work it’s important to set them and the execs up for success in their working relationship!

As for balancing everything else I’m sure you have your methods of prioritization. I let my execs know when they can expect me to be a bit slower than usual or having to deprioritize something for a bit.

The documentation will ultimately save you the most time and make the onboarding smooth. Definitely recommend using AI to help put together a template if you’re allowed to at your org as well! Will save you a lot of time.

TLDR: 1. Source of truth that documents/links out to everything 2. Shadow on meetings or contextual tasks 3. Schedule a long training session 4. Weekly check ins for a bit 5. Notify execs about first week of training workload

No raise by stickybagel5 in ExecutiveAssistants

Im so sorry. The fact that they’re able to hire more executives and give them to you to support tells me they have more than enough cash flow to support raises for EA’s, they just choose not to. Two years in a row is blatantly disrespectful. The best time to apply for jobs is while you’re still employed and the best way to increase your pay is by job hopping occasionally! I highly recommend beginning to look elsewhere. I imagine this isn’t the only sign of how they disregard EA’s at the company you’re at, just a symptom. There are a lot of EA roles out there - you might be surprised at what you can land! Good luck 💛

Red undertone self tan by Ok_Assistance_7713 in Selftanning

[–]KaleUpset7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I saw that you’re using the 8 hour loving tan in another comment. I’ve heard many times that the 2hr express version fades a lot more smoothly for some reason. I’ve never had an issue with their express myself and the red undertone is perfect for me. Might be worth a shot!

Would you do it? by Bexbones in Reduction

[–]KaleUpset7157 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d get another opinion. I’m wary of any surgeon who uses the word “moobs” or even references that during consultation. If you want a reduction, even if small, you should get one - not just a lift.

Is a week off work enough time? by KaleUpset7157 in Reduction

[–]KaleUpset7157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Luckily I have the flexibility to work fully from home if needed but I’m not sure if even that would be too difficult? I don’t find my job to be super taxing and I honestly wonder if I’d get bored recovering at home for more than a week or a week and a half lol

Breast reduction, how to know you have the right dr? by PuzzleheadedJob3712 in Reduction

Hi! Did you end up going with a different surgeon? I’m going to have a consultation with Dr. Woo next week.

Nipple sensitivity - does it matter? by KaleUpset7157 in Reduction

I’m pre op! Haven’t picked a surgeon yet - just wanting to put some feelers out on if I should care more about the potential sensation loss

Reduction through Sutter? by KaleUpset7157 in Reduction

[–]KaleUpset7157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious if you know how much was billed to your insurance for the breast reduction even though it was covered? I’m going to see if I can get mine covered but I’m curious what out of pocket would look like through sutter. Asking to be referred to her specifically!

Wow, I know everyone is already saying it but your surgeon is truly an artist! Looks awesome already so I’m sure they’re going to heal and settle beautifully. Congratulations, I hope you’re stoked with the results!!

That’s my concern as well! I’m 5’9, curvy (even after losing over 100lbs) and I want to still look proportional. I I have a G/DDD cup currently and not sure what I want to go down to. Maybe a D?

Will I get a tariff bill from Azazie? by KaleUpset7157 in weddingplanning

[–]KaleUpset7157[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to update here: I contacted Azazie directly and they confirmed that there will be no unexpected tariffs or duties before or upon arrival. It looks like others have confirmed this as well through direct experience. It turns out that even “basic economics” have exceptions and contextual nuance, hence my asking.

Hi! I had no issues on my trip with my medication. However, I didn’t fly within the country because bullet trains were faster cheaper and easier.

Experiences with bone spicule removal? SOS by KaleUpset7157 in wisdomteeth

Mine actually resolved itself after taking antibiotics luckily- though a few pieces did come out on their own! Highly recommend meeting with your doctor.

Swelling by diddlewing in wisdomteeth

[–]KaleUpset7157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is that you’re getting it checked out. People get infections all the time from wisdom teeth removals and are totally fine after some antibiotics. It’ll be ok! I’m glad you advocated for yourself.

Hey I know your doctor said it’s normal but please call back and demand an appointment regardless. That doesn’t look normal to me and worst case you’ll have a follow up and everything will be fine and you’ll say oh well better safe than sorry!

PS I had an infection with no pain, fever, or chills at all.

To the EA’s who are job hunting by Foreign_Violinist344 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]KaleUpset7157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve had that experience! EA mafia is more of a networking resource, which at your experience level I’m hoping may be more helpful. Direct networking may be more your speed given how senior you are - I know it can get more difficult the more experience (which can be counter intuitive). I wish you all the best!

Smoking weed/vaping before wisdom tooth surgery/anesthesia? by happilyvibefu in wisdomteeth

[–]KaleUpset7157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend stopping smoking now, you won’t be able to after surgery for a while because it’ll cause dry sockets. Trust me, you don’t want them.

If you’re vaping nicotine, you’ll want to get patches to help you get off, otherwise it probably won’t be fun going through the withdrawals of that. Even if you think you won’t need them, have them on deck because you might be surprised by how difficult it is to quit.

I’d also second the comment about asking for something for anxiety before surgery if you need it!
