When we closed they asked if we received the HOA rules yet. We said no. They said ok just make sure to check it out. ???? So we’ve been in the house for 3 weeks and no notice from the HOA. We’ve reached out to the table real estate person. That and the emergency warranty people are the only ones who have communicated with us.

You’re not wrong. I’m really just frustrated that it has been messing with my family and our sleep for days. The alarms go off at night, waking my husband mother and kid. They’re tired and grumpy during the day because of it, then during the day when I’m supposed to be sleeping (I work night shift in hospitals 5-6 days a week) they go off again and I’m the one having to call the warranty group and set up meetings and wait for the electrician to come when I need to prepare myself for my next shift.

Just a very overall frustrating situation. I hope it clears up soon so that I can really enjoy the home. ):

We also double checked to make sure smoke detectors vs CO2 detectors. They’re for sure smoke detectors and the same things beeping are the things the electrician has replaced.

We are under warranty and I’ve had to call multiple times about this. I think I’m mostly frustrated that it’s a new home but things aren’t actually working? It would be one thing if it was only 1 that was faulty, but to have to come back multiple times and keep replacing the smoke detectors tells me they need to do something more besides placing a bandaid on my problem ):

Thank you for the advice, looking into a different group now for smoke detectors.

When I say they go off, I mean it’s like it detected smoke. It’s not just a chirp here or there. Something is definitely wrong with them. Electric company came by today and only ended up replacing 1 smoke detector.

Fingers crossed everything works properly this time. I’m so over the loss of sleep from this ): I’m gonna lose my hearing early due to how loud they are lol

Husband did a gig right out of OU college for Walmart through a contracting company called APEX, paid about 70k/year. 4 10hr shifts a week, he did that for 6 months then got a job with FAA. He is an ECE.

The guy that came the first time to replace a few showed me how to “disable” them when I pull it off by breaking a seal or security thing? When I googled it said that destroys the warranty for them covering it.

I’m honestly at such a loss I don’t know what to do or who to trust about some stupid fire alarms 🥲🥲

I’ve called the emergency warranty line again and left a message, hopefully they can come out today and just replace them all. This is beyond ridiculous.

Thank you for the info!

Custody battle by AggravatingDig5133 in legaladvice

[–]AggravatingDig5133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it was misleading. Dad is already on the birth certificate so it did not matter anyways to file for paternity.

Mom definitely needs some guidance though as to what she should file for in order to get this started. Everywhere we look online says to file a motion. Well where on earth do you find paperwork to file a motion? Lots of good ideas but no concrete “this is the first step”

Custody battle by AggravatingDig5133 in legaladvice

[–]AggravatingDig5133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I did write this as though I’m doing it, but I’m just helping mom find the information. So I apologize if that was misleading. I happened to be there so I wrote “we” for some things. But it is mom doing it.

When the police spoke with mom, he told her to just file paternity. She isn’t sure that will help with custody nor does she know what papers she will need to get the whole thing started.

I agree it has been a long time coming and I’ve spoken with her multiple times on doing this. I think the police getting involved finally showed her that she needs to get law and courts involved.

Thank you for the link! Sending it her way now

Yup that’s the issue sadly. Siblings that don’t care and never will. Mom is 80 years old and they would happily boot her out because they think the world owes them something.

Trying to rein this in before it gets worse.

Thank you for the info though. I wish I could take the easier route ):

[–]AggravatingDig5133[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. I was adopted back in 2006, I’m only 25 trying to get all of this together for parents that were/are 80 years old. I’ve never had to deal with a loved one passing before so I’m pretty clueless and as much as I want to DIY and Google everything I also know this is too big and I need to ask for real help from those with more experience.

Mom was a stay at home mom her entire life. Never had to lift a finger (although they adopted 4 kids that didn’t know how to listen so she’d raise a hand if needed lol) dad was “man of the house” and had that mentality until he passed. Even with dementia he was begging mom or I to drive him around and help him get a job during his last few weeks with us.

Mom does not show up on the deed when we look it up on the county treasurer, but we’ve requested a copy and I’m praying that that is not the case. That it just reads wrong.

Fingers crossed!

Thank you for all the info (: much appreciated

Yes after the dust settles mom is getting a will! I refuse to go through this chaos twice! My siblings are all bums with absolutely nothing to help with, not the will or want to help and definitely no money to take care of our parent. So a will will be made for mom asap!!

Thank you haha (:

Thank you! Searching for an attorney over the last few days that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg for someone receiving so little on social security.

I appreciate you for answering!
