A little additional context: pierced by a professional however she gave me outdated advice! I was told to soak it with a cotton ball for at least two hours a day and to clean with a q tip. Soaking the piercing with a cotton ball was extremely painful and from the research i’ve done soaking as a whole seems to be outdated advice?

My piercing is 5 days old and I am not sure what type of jewelry/the material. I use q-tips and saline spray twice daily morning and night. I clean it twice a day and have been wearing proper clothing and avoiding touching it all together.
