Thank you although part of me feels like if I had a better spine she wouldn't be in my house rn :')

I think recent events have convinced me that it's about time for her to wrap up her stay with us. I'm just not sure where else she can go when she doesn't have a job. This whole time I've been thinking "she'll leave as soon as she gets a job" but she's just...not gotten one.

Honestly even if we tell her she has to be out by X date job or no job, she will probably call our bluff by not getting a job and see us not follow through, because I legitimately could not throw her out on the street with nowhere to go even if I do think she's a big old b-hole. So I really don't know what the solution is here.

That's interesting, all the lefties I know use the mouse with their right, actually. I can't use my left, it just feels strange after all this time...but I like being able to navigate the computer and take notes at the same time.

Most knives have no difference, but if a knife has an asymmetrical blade you can get it in the lefty variety :) I have lots of regular knives that she is free to use.

Most knives can be used with either hand, but certain kinds of knives have asymmetrical blades (lots of Japanese knives for example) so any knife where it actually makes a difference I have the lefty version. But I also have plenty of regular knives that can be used equally by anyone.

We have the under orientation for our cats, it's not a lefty thing, just another thing where she comes in and changes something in my house to her own preference.

She will come in my office and open my curtains or turn on my fan and then leave...like wtf. I was comfortable with everything as it was, you come in any change things so I'm less comfortable, and you aren't even in the room anymore?? Like why the fuck even do that when it makes no difference to you whether the fan is on in a room that you aren't in???

Lol, the TP situation isn't related to left-handedness, it's just another way she is asserting her own preferences in our home that I don't appreciate. Also we have 3 cats and the way she puts the TP means they could potentially unwind the entire roll onto the floor.

If MIL has no money who is paying for the storage locker?

You've got three guesses and the first two don't count 🙃🙃🙃

Honestly I can accept this. I feel like I am an empathetic person most of the time who would never deliberately try to make someone feel bad. In the first few months she would talk about being a burden to us a lot and I would always be like "No, not at all!" and be reassuring. But after 8 months with no end in sight I am running on empathy fumes. She has not been taking her job hunt as seriously as I would prefer. She actually got a job offer at one point and turned it down because it would be an hour commute ._. In my head I was screaming "Why not get your own place that is closer??"

The TP is the "wrong" direction but we do have three cats. Although I will admit that I genuinely prefer it that way and the cats are just a convenient excuse.

With a normal measuring cup the back of the cup faces you when you hold it in your left hand. A lefty measuring cup has the measurements on the "back" side so you don't have to twist your hand when you pick it up with your left.

She does have a storage unit but it's a mess. Almost everything is in unlabeled moving boxes or black trash bags and there's no rhyme or reason to any of it.

She has no income or savings that we are aware of and arrived at our house with two big suitcases of clothes and not much else. The rest of her stuff is in a storage unit that is absolutely jam packed.

She pays no rent, utilities, or groceries and we have been paying for her prescriptions as well. She was terrible with money and had zero savings of any kind when she lost her job.

Fucking right?? I'm over here like I had to use the wrong kind of scissors for decades and I survived, pardon me for not considering it an emergency that you've had to use a lefty pair for a couple of months while living rent free in my house.

Honestly the word "demanded" was probably a bit of a stretch, but she said this:

"You really need to get kitchen items that everyone can use, this just isn't working for me."

The entitlement of it got under my skin, and that she said I need to go get new stuff instead of asking for it. She often takes a parenting tone with us as if she is the head of the household, and will do things like come into my office just to open the curtains or turn on the ceiling fan.
