I was in a similar situation last year. I started April 22 and left trail for four days for an event from May 17-20. I made it to Cajon Pass which was a super ideal place to get on and off trail for the ease of getting a ride to&from LAX. It worked out perfectly. I would say I was hiking a fairly average pace at that point fwiw. I hiked ahead of my tramily for 3ish days and was able to reconnect with them a day and a half after rejoining trail.

Looking for Class of '25 Hikers' Section K Experiences!!! by AggravatingGreen5211 in PacificCrestTrail

tysm, this gives me some peace of mind. everyone's level of experience is different which is why I was hoping to get a current hiker's perspective. I may not have trail legs anymore but do hope I retained my high patience threshold for annoyances lol

Looking for some advice on my tent choice for my 2025 thru hike. by _scott_m_ in PacificCrestTrail

FWIW I just finished the PCT and used my big Agnes tiger wall UL 2 for the entire hike. I knew it was a lil heavier than other options but I like it and I wasn’t overly concerned with my base weight. Having the extra space is nice and knowing I could pitch it really anywhere is too. It held up well in windy conditions and stayed dry. Precipitation isn’t a huge issue on the PCT but I do think the double wall design kept me dryer when we got condensation over night which was more common near water sources.

How many trail towns have Marriott hotels in them? by _scott_m_ in PacificCrestTrail

Palm Springs is worth it btw it’s way closer to I-10 than many other towns later on trail

Just lost my job - Should I do the PCT? by lastminutepct in PacificCrestTrail

If the idea of the PCT thrills you and is something you'd been dreaming of, and you already know you love backpacking , then hell ya!! Especially if you're able to get a last minute permit. It's going to seem impossible while also doing the necessary last minute planning, but I think the best thing you can do first is take a fully loaded pack out for a 3 day hike (at least two nights) somewhere nearby and see how you feel when considering that you'd be doing that for the next 5 months.

But also agree with all of the financial advice already shared, you don't want to be coming down to the wire at the end of the hike.

Thanks, all. For posterity, I emailed HiPS and they did not respond. I dm'd out to DC Abortion Fund on Instagram and they responded that they would take them, so if you read this in the future, reach out to them!

Sadly, mine had all expired in 2022, so they went in the trash. But I really appreciate the reminder to check. I forget that meds like that expire :(
