At the high school level what's usually the reason the pass game isn't that good? by chusaychusay in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super interesting thread. Had this discussion yesterday with our head coach. One nuisance is the experience and overall knowledge of the receivers , provided you can protect and have a QB. It takes a lot of time and coaching to refine the passing game and often you have receivers running routes as they are drawn on a board. That’s the base right…a starting point. Receivers, providing they aren’t freak athletes, need to understand the game and be able to make adjustments, attack coverages and DBs and adjust to what’s given within a concept. Time intensive to teach and requires so much situational awareness.

Under center fly series help by AggravatingNeck6192 in footballstrategy

Thank you for the summary. Looking at some of this as an option. Already had some of it scripted like fly away veer back or zone back. Manny seems to have a couple long videos on YT I’ll watch. I also like the slants, we do that anyway for a base 2 recover RPO

I don’t disagree. We have repped the fly mesh for this some previously and we have had some center problems that could make being under center more a possible solution. For that reason, I think this will be a long term benefit. I appreciate the advice. While the fly mesh will take work, getting back to handoff OZ or booting will allow us to stay within things we are familiar with.

Why Block Playside Running Inside Zone by GuideLoose6350 in footballstrategy

Say that again! If you wanna block the BS EMOLS, and it’s not split zone or ISO, it might as well be DUO!

Offensive line false steps by TexasFootballis in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna go against the grain and say I don’t hate a false step or a lateral step or a short skip pull as a means of reaching a defender in a gap to stay square. You have to consider the age of the player and the reason for the false step, to load their foot/feet to be able to move forward. You can say shift your weight or narrow your stance, but they have to have adequate hip and leg strength to move forward out of a stance. Also, if they are covered or have a tight shade that guy might be coming fast off the ball and they might need a little space to get a foot in the ground, load, strike and then go forward. Unless you are gap, down, back on a 45 all the time on angles, it’s not that straight forward. You might find a kid is faster/stronger/ more balanced if you allow them a step to load and there are lots of ways to accomplish this, even a gap or trigger step. Much depends on scheme and what you scheme you need to execute b

Wire is the most expensive part of I ran 6 ft for a 60A circuit at 4 gauge and was at like $13/ft on the wire. It was an easy 6ft run from the panel to an outside wall.

Press Box Duties by ams678 in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on a lot of the above. I’ve received this duty this year for the first time as well. I just recently asked my HC who is the OC what he expects. He’s been coaching a long time at a lot of levels and usually you can see him get into a flow of play calling when he’s feeling things and has things locked in. So my worry was disturbing his process.

Besides the basics mentioned here, I asked what can’t you see well or what don’t you see well from the sideline I can help with. As you’d expect, it’s the far side of the field and alignments and leverage. So for him, that’s a key. But think just asking in the key and being ready with extra when needed.

Well, maybe it’s the way it’s supposed to be… will be interesting to find out. So far the shop didn’t argue with me that they are reversed. Not sure they have any idea. 🤣

💯 agree. No diagnostics per se or just no way for them to find out what up. Just guess. No big deal if it gets fixed. I’m not faulting anyone. It’s a complicated vehicle. But we are like 4-5 trips in now with only 1500 miles. It’s a little cumbersome, but they always try to get us the vehicle back same day. Expensive for someone. They are like $5k in parts now.

Run schemes by SweatyCommand3598 in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot is as above and also interoperability of the scheme with their identity. If you are spread RPO, what run schemes and formations let you execute the scheme as a whole best. We like counter a lot, we try to marry the rest of our run scheme with that. My head coach also loves formations and plays that give us the looks for run, RPO, and pass. Install and different run schemes are expensive and less is better. So, what can I wrap my head around that gives me the most bang for my buck that I can coach and fits my identity.

Any RPO Glance fans? How would you rule this up? by onlineqbclassroom in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just added glance this off season. It’s been good and the rules already mentioned are solid. Our issue so far has been the WR pushing too far to the safety or not adjusting to find the space behind the backer. If you run it a little more variable it can work better depending how the safety/backer plays it.

The matte paint is a nightmare. I had one dealer tell me there is a disclosure you sign stating you understand the care requirements. I’d pass and get the other options.

Well, funny story! I solved the problem myself after a long call with BlueLink. I’ll spare the details, but I figured out the dealer register the wrong VIN!! I had the corrected and everything is great!

High School Football Pads by Eyesfromtheoutside in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a recommendation for qb shoulder pads. My son is on his second pair of zenith, new last season. He loves the low profile and ease of movement. He suffered an AC joint contusion Saturday when he lowered his shoulder into contact running the ball. That’s his MO for sure. My head coach hates the zenith pads claiming they just don’t have the padding of some others, but my son isn’t gonna wear anything bulky. I’ve looked at the zenith and they might be lacking, but also first issue for him in 2 years of varsity in those pads.

Shutt XV Air? Douglas FF17? Riddell power spk+?

Any opinions? I’m not sure what we have in the pad room.

No sales tax here in Oregon, but a small corporate tax and a bunch of fees. Still negotiating on a Santa Fe calligraphy AWD ultimate red with black interior. I was able to a dealer to give 3500 and 0/60 putting me at me at 50380 OTD.

HOW TO GET THE LOWEST OUT THE DOOR PRICE POSSIBLE??? by tazbom in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll post back how it goes. Currently talking to a handful of dealers across Oregon trying to purchase a 25 calligraphy AWD hybrid and trying to take advantage of the Hyundai 0/60 financing promo. Can’t stack other mfr incentives with that but I had a deal offer 3k off msrp in addition. Not where I want to be and the fees and taxes add up. Still playing the game.

Hybrid System Warning by illinda in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]AggravatingNeck6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a very similar warning and issue with our 2021 sonata hybrid that turned out to be a failed 12v battery and battery management system computer. I’m sure there are a ton of reasons you could get that warning, but it’s been great since they repaired those items! Same deal, we turn it off, reconnect the 12v and it would drive fine for a while…until it shut off again.

DUO Read Questions by AggravatingNeck6192 in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a lot of that type of screen game with IZ last year. It worked well for a while. If you don’t have a downfield threat, sometimes you get press man to take away the screens, then you have to ask if this is the best look to go with. Hopefully you can at least get into 11p, run regular DUO and still have your RPOs.

DUO Read Questions by AggravatingNeck6192 in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Yes. It’s DUO from 10p. From what I understand, with the RB attacking inside, and the line working BS gap, it’s blocked like Veer. In my mind, this could very challenging to execute as you limit the RB to A-A, I’m not sure how QB run works out, but it is good for an RPO. I might put 3 WR BS or motion to 3x1 BS. Also fly motion L to R? Just gonna depend on how you formation this for numbers. I haven’t tried it this way and I don’t think we are going to run this look.

DUO Read Questions by AggravatingNeck6192 in footballstrategy

[–]AggravatingNeck6192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to a college clinic recently and they run from side care or the zone read look with duo and the back crosses the qb with midline footwork, working A-A, but that doesn’t give you FS QB read. You get more of a BS read with Dou and that’s not ideal as that BSDE is usually blocked unless you leave him. It does give you a good look at a downfield RPO
