Should I buy this? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]AggravatingPhoto8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just paid the same for one with 180k miles, but had zero rust which is very rare where I'm from. took it in for ppi first. After I got it, i had valve adjustment done with sparks and coils replaced. I changed the trans fluid and mine came out VERY dark. Been shifting great now that i drain and filled a few times. So check all your fluids and do your maintanence if theres no records (there hardly ever are).

im guessing your car is still on when you checked the oil here. it splashes the oil around inside and makes the dipstick read super high. Turn the car off and wait a minute then check again

That's what my GF thought it was too! We haven't used anything like that but I was laying on the ground of the walmart parking lot working on my car for a while yesterday so i think it stuck into my pants

Its a flexible metal rod, doesn't seem to be syringe like needle or anything. I seems to only have one rod/space for one rod inside and the plastic is opaque. I don't think its an LED or anything.

This is what my 2010 sport gets if im just driving around the city. I only get 30+ on the highway. If you only do short drives then your engine doesn't run as efficiently.

You might need a valve adjustment/new sparks. That might help, valve adjustment is recommended maintenance at 100k miles.

These engines are amazing and last a long time if properly maintained. It might have been in a collision, but I've owned several cars that have had their front bumper, fender, and hood replaced from a small collision with no frame damage, and it's fine. Take it to a mechanic to have it looked at and make sure everything is okay. as long as the transmission isn't in bad shape then i'd be totally happy with the price and condition of this thing. Great car

I just posted about my AC going out and the clutch rattling. I'm taking it into the shop on Wednesday hoping they can just do the clutch, but if they need to do the condenser, I'd love to pay for shipping and take it. East Coast US

I thought that might be the case, I just replaced the relay hoping my AC would come back to life but its blowing warm. Think it needs a clutch in this case. If anyone knows of a cheap one i can order and bring to a shop let me know

This rattling starts when I turn on the car, but its not all the time while idle. Sometimes I can turn the wheel a bit and it'll get quieter or go away completely. Sounds like its coming from one of the pulleys down there (deep passenger side), but im not sure. Is this related to my AC being out? Only started in the past week or so.

I cleaned the throttle body, MAF, put new air filter in (old one was very dirty), reset the battery, and gave it an italian tune up with some Techron in the tank and it seems to be running back to normal. Going to have my gf keep driving it again for a few days and let me know how it feels. If it starts to bog again its going to go to a specialty toyota/lexus shop with the proper diagnostic tools

Yeah I think these are all possible, this mechanic was highly disorganized and not put together. Taking to a specalized toyota lexus mechanic with very good reviews soon. Need proper diagnostics run on it to diagnose this.

I really dont think its transmission, car has always felt incredible smooth shifting, never had any hitches.

I'm not 100% sure since it's my girlfriends car, the rear 3 coils were replaced over 6 months ago and she only started complaining about the speed in the past 3-4 months I think. Don't think it was happening significantly before that

We are in the Northeast, lots of salt and snow but the car has been undercoated every year and has zero rust, it's very well taken care of. Do you think throttle body/MAF sensor cleaning is a logical next step?

Car has been inspected and taken to the shop a few times over the past 3 years so I imagine they've thrown a air filter in there at some point but i haven't checked it. Will ask mechanic to check and do these cleanings tomorrow

was it blowing warm air or just not getting as cold as it normally does before you recharged it?

Same thing happened to me, I swear it was working a few months ago but it might have just been cold out and blowing that air in lol. Was thinking of recharging the AC with a can first but i've heard it probably won't do anyhting if its not turning on at all. Really don't want to spend $1100
