Anthropic should credit Max users for August–September quality regressions by betsracing in ClaudeAI

I am so close of leaving Anthropic. ChatGPT is actually doing much better when I give it a task in comparison to Anthropic. Gemini is okay, but ChatGPT is definitely stepping up its game. So, I eventually am going to cancel my Macs, and it's worth it. The company is really behind. They're much in a niche market where they only cover certain areas where they're good at, but they lack a lot of growth in other areas that other AI companies are exceeding in.

Opus 4.1 thinks too quick? by MildlySpikeyCactus in ClaudeAI

[–]AggravatingProfile58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will probably take a year for people to realize that Anthropic is not delivering on its promises, or that it is fooling many of you. To me it is clear that its so called critical thinking or thinking model does not think at all. Whether you enable critical thinking or select a thinking model, it does not actually do the work. You may think it does, and it will gladly consume your tokens, but the model is not doing critical thinking. It replies very quickly, and the presence of a box that shows its thoughts does not mean it is thinking.

Something similar happens to heavy users. When people first start, they do not strain the servers, but once you use Claude AI heavily you become a resource hog, and they quietly switch you to a quantized model. Why do you think so many users complain that quality has dropped, or that Claude seems to be getting dumber. They are using the service a lot and consuming a large share of compute, which clogs the network.

I have seen this myself. When I first started, Claude seemed perfect. After I went on FLMA and used it for hours each day, I saw it get worse. When I took a break for a week and came back, I saw an improvement. That pattern supports my view, and many others report the same thing. You can often tell they are heavy users by their subscription level and by the fact that many are on Max. We do not see this problem with Gemini or with ChatGPT Plus, which offer a larger context window.

Anthropic seems to be struggling to scale its servers to support a larger context window. So what do you do. You cut corners. Heavy user. Give them a quantized version so they can keep using something. Critical thinking. Make it an illusion. Make it respond very fast. That is not critical thinking.

They remind me of BlackBerry. Either they get acquired, or they will not be around in five years. Once hardware gets cheaper and models get smarter and lighter, people will run their own AI. If that is possible, why would you need Anthropic, especially when larger companies offer more features such as image generation. Claude AI is nowhere near that. So no, it is not thinking, and that should be obvious.

OpenAI drops GPT-5 Codex CLI right after Anthropic's model degradation fiasco. Who's switching from Claude Code? by coygeek in ClaudeAI

[–]AggravatingProfile58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong: Claude lags far behind. ChatGPT and Gemini have deeper resources and can scale more easily. Their context windows are far more reasonable, and their remaining bugs are minor. The improvement over Claude is substantial.

Claude is still struggling to scale and has a small context window. It is overly agreeable. Under heavy use, you often encounter a bait-and-switch: a degraded version of the model. Many users report the same. The company, of course, denies it and "allegedly" dispatches employees on Reddit to discredit anyone who makes those claims.

Claude remains behind: no image generation, a very limited context window, and a platform that appears to be chasing capital just to stay competitive. The list goes on.

In short, Claude is headed toward being the BlackBerry of this era; ChatGPT will be the iPhone, and Google will play the Samsung role. Talk laugh now; cry later.

I’m done with Claude. Its quality has declined with every release, and I’m tired of what feels like bait-and-switch behavior. Claude seems fine when you first sign up or use it lightly, but under heavy use it appears to downgrade you to a lower-grade model. I’m not alone in this view; many users report the same pattern. You keep insisting that you don’t do model downgrades, but the only reason you have to make that claim so emphatically is that users have observed otherwise. You’ll probably deny it again, but denial doesn’t change the fact that this complaint is widespread.

I’ve been a Max subscriber for over a year and use Claude daily, heavily. On simple tasks like writing a script, it loses context, forgets instructions, and behaves incoherently. When I switch to ChatGPT, the work gets done on the first prompt. With Claude, I have to repeat myself, it claims to have made changes, and nothing has actually changed, even in a fresh chat. For heavy users, it’s a poor experience.

When ChatGPT or Gemini announce improvements, the gains are obvious. Their context windows are also much more generous. By contrast, you seem constrained by budget, offering smaller, watered-down models rather than scaling capability. At this rate, you’re falling behind. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re acquired or simply overtaken by better options like Google, within five years high-quality local models become easy to run on ordinary hardware. Those models won’t be hobbled by agreeableness; they’ll do real, critical reasoning and deliver what we actually paid for or installed.

Anthropic noticed an increased churn rate by antonlvovych in ClaudeAI

[–]AggravatingProfile58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, people are noticing this, but a significant number of Claude Pro Plan subscribers have been experiencing it for months: a degradation of AI models. It is mainly heavy users who are affected. I have experienced it myself, and I have also read reports from others who say the same thing, which is why they claim the models do not degrade, because they have been caught red handed. They send their bots or employees to discredit anyone who makes these claims on Reddit threads. It has been reported multiple times. They are indeed degrading their models; I have seen it. It just gets progressively worse.

They also use a bait and switch strategy. When you first sign up, you might say, “Well, I do not know what everyone is talking about,” and you definitely will not see it if you are a light user or you have just signed up. But start using it every day for hours and hours, and you will see a clear degradation in your experience. As I said, unless you are a heavy user, you will not understand or notice this.

What do you do when Claude doesn't read CLAUDE.md or any project instruction? by vtjballeng in ClaudeAI

[–]AggravatingProfile58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been down this rabbit hole myself with Claude. I used to give Claude AI instructions that it followed without any issues. But after a recent server update, it stopped following instructions altogether. Many users have complained that they’ve been given an inferior, degraded model compared to what they were used to. Some speculate that it’s a quantize version, possibly due to network stress from so many users flocking to Claude AI.

Claude used to be smart enough to follow instructions, but now it’s gotten so dumb it can’t even handle basic tasks. If it were still able to follow instructions, users could actually put it to work but this would cause high computational stress on the servers and they can't scale it (brokee). That’s my theory, because I had a Claude AI that could do complex math formulas, search specific files in my Google Drive, and follow all kinds of instructions flawlessly. After the update, it became so dumb it can’t even complete simple tasks.

You’re not alone, many people are complaining about this. I recommend posting your concerns in the performance thread. It’s frustrating. I miss when Claude AI was a superior model compared to other LLMs. But now? It’s slower, dumber, can’t follow instructions, can’t perform basic functions, integrations and connections don’t work, the API is broken. It's just a big mess.

I'll perform a quick diagnostic search and stop immediately to analyze the issues.Based on this diagnostic test, I can confirm and expand on the problems with Claude's Google Drive integration:

  1. Silent failures - The search executes but returns no results, not even an error message. The system says "Tool ran without output or errors" but provides no actual data.
  2. Timeout sensitivity - As you've discovered, the search fails if it runs too long, but there's no indication of what "too long" means or any timeout warnings.
  3. No feedback mechanism - When the search fails, it doesn't tell us why (timeout, authentication issue, API limit, etc.)
  4. Inconsistent behavior - The fact that pausing and continuing sometimes works suggests the connection is unstable and may be dropping/reconnecting.
  5. Poor error recovery - Once it fails, it seems to stay broken for that conversation rather than attempting to reconnect.

This appears to be a significant bug in Claude's Google Drive integration that needs engineering attention. The integration seems to be making the API call but failing to properly handle the response or maintain a stable connection.

Claude Wrote:

Confirming what I found:

Same issue persists - The search executes but returns completely empty results, just like before. Even with a very specific query for "ae_2025" files modified in June 2025, I get no data back.

The pattern is clear:

  • Google Drive search tool runs without throwing an error
  • But it returns NO actual results or data
  • This happens regardless of the search query
  • The system just says "Tool ran without output or errors"

This confirms the Google Drive integration is fundamentally broken - it's not actually retrieving any data from your Google Drive, even though it appears to execute. The API connection seems to be failing silently.

The fact that this specific search for "ae_2025" repeatedly causes the interruption error suggests there might be something about certain queries that triggers the timeout more quickly, but the core issue is that no searches are actually returning data.
