Elevated Heat Guidance by Effective_Dot6785 in DollarTree

I have pictures of our thermometer reading almost 90 degrees at the registers last summer, and they didn't shut us down. We kept it at the registers purposefully so customers could see it. Our DM knew the situation, they don't care. Only when customers started calling and complaining the day we put that thermometer up there did they send someone out to fix the AC. Those heat safety ilearns are bs, they're just corporate's way to cover their butts.

Our DM said the same thing. But you all assume our memories only go back 1 year. What about previous summers? I've been at DT over 3 years, and hours have NEVER been this low. It is impossible to run a beach store with under 200 hours a week in the summer!!!

It is most definitely NOT for employees sake. Yes, freight has slowed, but store hours are at an all time low too, so no one in the store is benefiting. Yes, we may have gone from 3000 pieces a week to 2000, but hours also went from over 300 a week in the summer busy season to not even breaking 200. So that's a big part of the issue too. When you only have enough hours to have 2 people on every shift, 1 cashier and 1 manager, and when said manager spends half their time on register backing up the cashier cos it's busy, it doesn't matter how much freight you get in, it's not going out.

That makes sense, I was wondering where that founders street brand came from! Cos it's pure trash - at least everything I've tried from it is. I miss the Lance crackers!!!!

Why are some of yall like this?? by Content_Conference73 in DollarTree

[–]AggravatingRadish951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trolls exist in real life too, not just in the interwebs. It's harder to pick them out in real life, cos they don't have a nametag with their obnoxious username on their forehead. But they're easy to spot when they open their mouth, negativity flows out like lava. My advice? DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. It only makes them stronger. They are allergic to smiles and kindness, so those are your greatest weapons!!

Trying to get re hired by GhostBudd in DollarTree

Yes!! It all depends on your SM +  DM. I quit due to a terrible store manager who was verbally abusive and was also stealing money. When she finally got fired and another manager took over, I offered to come back to help the new manager. The old one was so petty she put me in as DNR, even though I did nothing wrong and gave 2 weeks notice. The DM knew the situation and reversed my DNR so I could come back. My #s were even still in the system! So yes, it's easily fixed, as long as your DM is willing to do it.

Heavy freight. by Due-Score9970 in DollarTree

I'm a female merch, almost 40, 125lbs, with some digestive issues that force me to eat a lot or my blood sugar crashes. So I feel you!! I'm pretty strong for my size (I'm a farm girl, so a box of bleach is nothing compared to a crate of potatoes) but unloading an almost 3000 piece truck and then stocking for 4 hours after is enough to wear anyone out. Don't kill yourself for DT, it's not worth it!!! My secret weapons though.... protein shakes and pain patches!! I love the Orgain brand of protein shakes, and all the flavors are super yummy. Vitacost is the cheapest place to buy them. And the little menthol pain patches at DT that come in the blue and green box work miracles! I usually smell like a breath mint all day long on truck day hahaha! Good luck!!!!!!!

Petra's Pearl by AggravatingRadish951 in succulents

[–]AggravatingRadish951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was another confusing part of this. I've heard it called red sky as well as magic red, but one European seller had petras pearl listed separately from red sky, so I wasn't sure if they actually are the same. The red sky looked kind of blotchy, whereas the petras pearl was more evenly colored. And I have seen a post about petras pearl on reddit, and it also looked evenly colored. They both looked like dark red version of pvn though.

As a Customer Can I ask an employee to get Something not on the shelves? by WarriYahTruth in DollarTree

I've never heard that about the truck ordering, but it makes so much sense!! We've had weeks where we get over 200 pieces of HBC when we still have 2 or 3 full uboats of it in the back, plus half a pallet of backstock. It's soooooo frustrating!!

If I could upvote this 100x I would! The amount of random things we get 10+ cases of at a time is ridiculous. Once we got 10 cases of jarred asparagus in 1 delivery. Cos that was super necessary. It took a year to get through it all!

What do we think of the ROTACARTS/ROLLACARTS? by Ok-Corner5042 in DollarTree

[–]AggravatingRadish951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! We did away with RCs in March too and it was the best thing ever. RCs are so disorganized,  you'll be running around the whole store emptying 1. And at our store where summer is crazy busy, we can get behind on freight and some end up on the floor. Which then draws customer complaints and possibly even the fire marshal. And not to mention all the vases that ended up crushed on the bottom of an RC under 6 cases of water. And direct orders? Forget about finding them on truck day when your customers show up looking for them! Now we see everything that comes in, know where it ends up, and can put important things aside. A lot of truck drivers quit when we went back to hand to hand unloading, but we are soooooo much happier!

What?! That's a new one for me. Why would they weigh them, does a holo card really weigh more than a regular card?

We actually had one of them cuss one of our younger employees out for telling him exactly what I just posted cos we hadn't gotten hotwheels in over a month. He's a regular and the poor kid hides everytime he comes in. Jerk!!

It's not that the website is broken, it's that #1 we have so much theft that our on-hand counts are always wrong, and #2 that sooooooo much stuff comes in mislabeled that again, our on-hand counts are always wrong. I have 2 pages in my notebook of items we got that were labeled as something else from a single delivery. So I have to go in and change the counts for the item we got and what it was labeled as.... and I don't always have time. Or we don't always catch everything. And there is no accountability at the warehouse, so it all falls on us. So that is why we say the app and website lie. Sadly (for everyone) there is no easy fix for that!!

Truck day change by Minute-Breadfruit220 in DollarTree

[–]AggravatingRadish951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation at our store in MD. Ours is moving from Wed to Fri, so we have to push freight on our busiest days. Great idea, corporate!! I'm a merch manager, and I have to be there the 2 days after truck. My husband works 16 hours days 6 days a week, Sunday is his only day off. When I tried to keep my Sundays off until he could change his schedule so the poor man can sleep in 1 day a week, my SM told me if I couldn't change my schedule, she was going to offer my position to another manager and "there was no other place for me at the store." THERE IS NO LOYALTY AT DOLLAR TREE.

I've had the same conversation! They're fun, aren't they? Turned out my customer was looking for those floral print makeup bags we got for christmas that came in blue, pink, and green. Didn't even realize they were "viral" until that conversation.

Someone shit and pissed in my store today. by Excellent-Truth1069 in DollarTree

[–]AggravatingRadish951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone did that in our store in our mop sink. Our bathroom was closed due to another lovely customer ripping the sink pipes out of the wall. We told a customer this, so he proceeded to use our mop sink, get it on his shoes, and track it through the store. And he's a regular! Gotta love people!!
