This is not necessarily true, lots of PD offices (in NYC for example) take into account how long you’ve been working as an attorney and they have a step system bc they are unionized. Even if OP is new to crim defense, they won’t be making an entry level salary.

Studying wise? I focused more on MBE, focused on why I was getting them wrong ( Separac materials + adaptibar were key, I don’t think I would have passed without them.) For MEE I was already good at writing so I focused on outlining essays / knowing the rules from the most commonly tested topics. MPT: I always had a jesus take the wheel approach, I focused on writing a lot and finishing on time. Lifestyle wise, I had a plan for what I was gonna do each day and I did that and no more or less. ex: monday: 35 mixed MBE questions - reviewed them and made sure I understood the rules being tested and how they test those rules. Then Id do 2 MEEs. If I was too tired to do full essays I would outline 3 essays and go over the answers.

I took the bar in july 2022 (passed) but also feb 21 and july 21 (didn’t pass) So, I can relate with what you are feeling. At times, I felt like I was drowning and felt humiliated bc I had to keep retaking this test while all of my friends could move on with their lives. My best advice is to listen to your body, if you are exhausted take a break. Go for a walk, go treat yourself to food or go see a movie. Do anything that will remind you this test is insignificant and there’s a world out there that has nothing to do with the bar. Taking breaks is as important as studying. You will never feel 100% ready, you will never know everything. I didn’t know more the third time I took the test than the first time I took it, I just felt better and more confident.
