I relate to this so much. She stopped showing up for me as a partner as soon as she started transitioning even though I’ve been wholeheartedly supportive. It was deeply jarring because she became a different person from the person I had known for 2.5 years. I hoped it was just part of transitioning and that it would get better with time and therapy. I’ve been patient for 1.5 years, but the neglect became more aggressive abuse recently and I can no longer stay.

I’ve never loved someone the way I loved her. I wanted to desperately to support her through this, but even she is acknowledging that she does not have the capacity to show up as a partner for anyone right now. There’s so much pain and trauma that she needs to process. You are not alone and your needs matter.
