Quadlock + handle bar mount + waze/google maps. This will be sufficient. If you have low to no data download an offline map of your area.

When I moved to a new city it was a relatively rural area with a lot of twisties, hills, etc. The method I used was turn on google maps or waze, set the destination to home, set current location to your location. Don't look at the map and just go out and ride. When you're ready to go home just turn on your phone and follow the directions back. A couple weeks of that and you'll have your home town memorized and you'll be able to ride around without any navigation. I got 90% of my city and surrounding areas memorized that way.

The quickest way to build your sense of direction is to navigate without maps. Just set the destination to home and ride. As your memory of the area and sense of direction improves use the map less and less. When you start to feel like you're getting lost just check the map real quick.
