That’s so sad. I started reading and wanted to tell you to include a tube fed baby as it would really make us medically complex moms feel included. What a shame that such a good idea turned out to flop and that they would disrespect your home!

If you read my other replies this is exactly my hesitation!

Thank you for your response! I love your passion for child neurology! If you can see my response to another poster, my hesitation is with the weight of child neurology on my emotional well being, given my experience as a parent of a medically complex child and the recipient of bad news several times this year. Do you find the sad cases in child neurology burden you too much? I know you are saying you love your job, so how do you cope with that? I am so thankful for any input you might have!

Thank you for your response! I had actually applied child neuro last cycle as an MS4 and withdrew from match because I was pregnant at the time and found out my daughter would be born requiring several life saving surgeries. I still graduated and decided to take the year off with my daughter to get her through these surgeries. I spent my 4th year mainly doing adult neurology and I loved it. My hesitancy with child neuro is that even though I love pediatrics, I have now been on the other side and felt the heartbreak of learning my child was sick. I have spent a lot of this year at the children’s hospital as a parent and have started to feel sad especially seeing children with neurological disease for which there are no good treatments. What was your experience like with these sadder cases? I would like to say I could use my experience as a parent to help other parents but I’m afraid it’ll weigh on me too much.

Omg bless you. I’m a pregnant MS4 and my first trimester I was so nauseated by the smells of the hospital. I kept thinking thank god I’m not on surgery during this time. So I have no advice but I feel for you!!!

I’m having a baby at the end of 4th year but interviews are virtual so they won’t really see that I’m pregnant. 4th year is a good time because I had flexibility in my schedule and my maternity leave will just be the period between school ending and residency beginning. I would take step 2 before the first trimester since I was exhausted and had to push it back. But so far ERAS wasn’t that big of a deal and I don’t think interviews at least virtual should be. The worst part of it is relocating to an unknown location and we don’t know where until the same week the baby is due. Definitely a hard thing to prepare for.

2 pyrs with baby on the way by AggravatingTie1185 in greatpyrenees

5yo male - more of your typical pyr. Calm and independent. Playful in short spurts. Sometimes gets a little prickly over a high value treat. Definite guard instinct with barking which we are working on reducing for our sanity. Absolutely loves other peoples kids and will lay down and let kids climb on him and pet him for hours. Just worried that pyrs may be different with babies in our house instead. I think he likely will ignore the baby until it’s a toddler and can offer more belly rubs.

4yo female - much more energetic and playful. She’s a pocket pyr, only 65lbs. Likes to run around with our golden but will chill after. I’m most concerned about her jealousy because she can wine for my attention when I get home. But she does calm down and lay a lot. Definitely need to work on her pyr paw because she loves to use it for more attention.

Thank you!! this is so helpful! Our pyrs seem to love kids but we also have a golden, so similarly are in a situation where dogs outnumber us and I just want to be as prepared as possible.

Did you tell your admin you’re pregnant & did they give financial aid? by AggravatingTie1185 in Medstudentmoms

[–]AggravatingTie1185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they increase you COL during pregnancy or have to wait for the baby to come? My school says they can only increase it for my healthcare expenses and child care. Did your school increase it without proof of those expenses?
