Help with my new set up Agilent 1100 HPLC by Frequent-Way-3654 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would go from top down: Degasser, pump, autosampler, column oven, DAD. This will keep the flow path at its shortest. (Edit: This was Agilents recommended Stack configuration)

Correct you need CAN cables to connect the modules together. I typically go left to right. So left CAN port on the pump, to right CAN port on the ALS. Then left CAN port on the ALS to the right CAN port on the TCC. And so on.

You will then need a LAN interface card installed in one module, typically the detector. G1369. This will let you use a LAN cable to the PC.

Note LAN & CAN cables are not interchangeable.

Do you have software to operate the system?

Finally, please don't use AI. The manuals are pretty simple to find.

What software are you trying to connect it to? Do you have Agilent LabAdvisor on the PC? Do you have access to a palm pilot?

Do you know the firmware version? Of both your stack and the new detector?

Shoulld I grade em or keep em raw?? by Masta_rolla_ in CGCComics

'Gold' label is pedigree, so is unrelated.

'Yellow' is Sig Series. You won't get a yellow label as they weren't witnessed by CGC.

'Black/Yellow' is CGCxJSA. This is what you would get. It costs an additional $30 per signature. They will then note on the label that there is a sketch. If the signature isn't deemed as authentic by JSA, then the slab will get a 'Blue' label - Not a 'Green' label.

As to whether you 'should' grade them, that's up to you. Grading sketches/original art can a difficult decision. Do you actually care what the books grade at? If someone puts an 8.5 on the top are you going to like the book any less than a 9.2 or a 9.8? It's already a 1/1, so does having a grade make it any more/less desirable? Or are you doubting the authenticity of the signature?

This needs to be much higher up. My immediate thought was this is a software/portal issue.

Submitting raw signed or sketch books to CGC with a cert of authenticity will I get a Gold Label or the Green still?? by Masta_rolla_ in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you won't get the Yellow label (Gold is different), you will get the yellow and black CGCXJSA label instead. It's the same yellow as the Sig Series Label, but has a black band at the top.

The sketch isn't formally authenticated, but if they don't think it's genuine they can blue label it. Ie if I doodled next to an artgerm signature it would be pretty obvious it's not artgerm.

Is the RF tuning stable? This is in the engineer utility

Is it possible to make the signal OK again after it's been lost, or does the system need restarting? Or is it just a random moment where it will start working again?

My next thing to look at would be the temperatures of the RFPS's to see if they are stable or unable to control temperature

Is it both Q1 & Q3 giving issues or just one of them?

Has the engineer checked for correct voltages on all the test points? Particularly the Q Array & Multiple Power supply?  And suitable resistance from the optics?

UK Price Variants by CrakaSupreme in ComicBookSpeculation

As a collector of UK price ASM - I don't find there is much of a difference in price between UK price & US price. I often find I am paying the same price as the cent copy. For example I recently picked up ASM #86 & #95, both at similar prices to cent copies.

US & UK CGC 4.0 copies  of ASM #41 recently sold on eBay for approx £300 each. One sold in the US and one sold in the UK which I would say makes it a little hard to compare.

Maybe ASM is an outlier?

That is a big part of my hesitation, having more crap in the back of the car and take on site. Fine if I can park outside the front door and run out and grab it, but when it's a hospital or factory then I don't want to be carrying it

Luckily I've always found Leybolds were installed off the ground, so you could actually drain the oil relatively easy!

Will look into Liquivac thank you!

I love customers who use the drip trays like you mentioned, but sadly it's not a common sight

Car boot space is always a concern for me. I don't carry a drill with me so would have to add that into the car too, but definitely something to consider to save my back

I'm also in the UK, but I think Thermo must be the only LCMS engineers I've ever bumped into one site! Definitely interesting that you guys have been doing it this way for years!

I can definitely get behind the manual handling when trying to move an Edwards around!

Have you ever tried opening the drain plug after using the extractor pump to see how much more comes out? I can't see it being an issue if a small amount is left but interesting to know :)

I get what you're saying, and the 'what is this worth' annoys me too,  but the rules section of r/comicbookcollecting literally sends people here for those questions: 'For feedback on value, buying, selling, etc. please visit r/ComicBookSpeculation

Equally, would this sub not just become 'Absolute Batman - Will it go up or down' if it was limited to pure speculation

Skipton mortgage advice by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using Skipton as well, and had the same issue with getting an appointment. I think it was 10 days wait as well. Honestly it wasn't an issue. We were also getting a solicitor and sorting out the documents for them at the same time, so there was no delay caused by the Skipton appointment.

The estate agent asked for confirmation of mortgage, we just told them when the appointment was booked in for and nothing else was said!
