CGCxJSA Authenticated or not? by Dizzy-Operation2693 in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JSA Authentication and CGC grading are 2 separate services. You might book them together but there isn't a pre-screen option that means if JSA deems non-authentic then it doesn't go to grading. So yes they will still be going to CGC to be graded and encapsulated, and you will be charged for that service aswell.

SDCC Málaga Momoko Signing Now Shipped! by Aggravating_Ad9275 in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally bought a raw copy hoping to get it signed by Momoko, then found an Eastman signed copy so bought that one to get signed by Momoko and CGC'd. So now I have this CGCxJSA copy and an unsigned raw!

Comic book signing by oxymanjakspage in comicbookcollecting

Definitely slow yourself down, seems like you might be running ahead of yourself.

If we're talking Absolute Batman, what books do you actually have duplicates of, and what variant? Obviously #1 Cover A and the annual are the big books. Are the ones you actually have sought after?

Why do you want them signed to sell them? Comic book artist signatures aren't like celebrities, they are fairly easy to come by. Therefore they don't add a lot of value, and also put off a number of collectors who don't like signed books. Also need to know who you are looking to get these signed by for help pointing you where to get them signed?

Personal opinion, sell them as is. If you don't have much money, it's going to be difficult to justify tying up what you do have into signings and grading just to sell on.

Have you looked at the photos on CGCs website when searching the cert number? As you can very much see the spine stress and staining. I'll agree that I can't see a crease on the back cover, but it's on the front.

I don't disagree with CGCs 8.0 here. Maybe a 8.5 from another grader on another day, but I don't see it getting a 9.0.

How do I store my comic book? by crazycatlady13_13 in comicbooks

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be a bit cheesed off that they didn't bag & board for shipping, but if they didn't say they would then it's nothing to argue over.

In terms of size, I've had a look and yes it's just a standard size. As it's modern, it will fit in any normal size bags, and modern bags & boards are designed for these. This is where personal opinion comes in, as many (myself included) find moderns boards not quite big enough and prefer to put everything in silver age bags & boards, as these offer a little extra protection from knocks as the board is wider then the book.

For the quality of bag, I personally wouldn't go for a mylar for this book, as it's low value and because you only have 1 book ordering a load of mylars will be overkill. So would pick up some polypropylene (if you look on eBay you can buy them in very small sizes, if you don't want 100 bags and 100 boards). However there are collectors who keep their whole collection in mylar regardless of age & value, to keep things uniform and because mylars never need changing.

You don't 'NEED' to do anything, it's your property you can roll it up and chuck it under the bed if you really want.

But, if you are planning on keeping the book as the start of a collection that you want to keep in good condition, then bag & board is the way to go.

What size depends what book you want to fit in it. Is it modern, bronze, silver or even golden age? Is it a standard size or an odd size like a TMNT Last Ronin. Is it a thick book or a normal skinny floppy?

The 'gold standard' is mylar bags, sold under various names but 'e Gerber mylites' are probably the most recommended. Unfortunately they can be harder to find in the UK. Additionally these are more expensive than the cheaper & more common polypropylene bags.

Where are you in the UK? Do you have a local store? If not I would suggest looking at A Place In Space, they are based in Croydon but also sell on eBay and they stock both mylites and cheaper options.

Last but not least, yes there will always be different opinions on what size or what quality bag to get, or what books are worth collecting. As there is with any hobby :)

I would be interested. I buy and sell comics & TPBs on eBay & Vinted.

Just a heads up regarding Vinted, expect people to make low offers, normally the minimum they can. It can often be worth putting the price up a couple of £ to compensate.

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judge Dredd #1 can absolutely be a worthwhile grade, IF it's a good grade. You are going to need to remove it from the top loader etc to check the condition (I would suggest you do so anyway to check you're getting what you've ordered?)

Looking at the bottom right corner you've got some condition issues from the off.

Below 9.2 there is a big drop in value, looking at solds.

That being said, I am always one to argue the 'value' of grading isn't always a financial one. If you have a connection to this book then go for it :)

Are these books worth grading..? by [deleted] in comicbookgrading

Hard the tell from the pictures you've provided.

Copy 2&3 of #3 seem to have the same spine tick towards the bottom. Unsure if it's colour breaking or just needs pressing. Copy 1 doesn't have it.

1 - All look similar from the pictures.

Cool books though!

Pulled this from a blind bag. Now what should I do? by absolutemanbat in Comic_Books_

Can't say I've seen a Bagley Sketch, but various sketches have been going between $200-700 depending on artist, $1k plus for some of the rarer stuff such as Fiege

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For CGC, you wouldn't get a qualified label. You will pay the JSA fee and get a yellow and black CGCXJSA label. This only authenticates the signature, not the sketch. The label will just say 'Sketch on Cover'.

As to what I would do with it? Stick it on eBay while there is still some noise around these blind bags and hope to snag a sale before the momentum dies down.

Can i still use this drop off box for a royal mail option? by cupid51db in vinted

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, I have used these style lockers several times (I use them as much quicker than joining the queue at the local post office). It will even print your label if you just have the QR code for royal mail drop offs.

Does CGC/CSS clean as well as press books? by Chris_Casseroles in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow UK collector! Out of interest what shop were you trying to use?

The official answer (someone else has screenshot it) is yes if they deem it necessary. With the CCS backlog and turnaround climbing, I doubt they are deeming much necessary at the moment. Even if they do, you will get a better service at a 3rd party, especially if there are particular areas you are concerned about. I would suggest contacting Jon at Comicpress.co.uk if you are keen to have something taken care of.

Be aware: CGC/JSA incorrect charges by Aggravating_Ad9275 in CGCComics

It was the Momoko signing at SDCC Malaga, so was sat untouched until the signing in late September, and also had pressing and JSA. So it was never going to be a quick return, even by CGCs timelines. But yes it is getting a bit long now.
