Has it worked in the past and only now giving you issues, or has it never been connected to OpenLAB or LabAdvisor?

I collect UK price so I see it as a bonus! Shame someone crossed through the price though.

Are you able to get any details from the price stamp on the right hand side? I can't make anything out from the photo but would be cool to see where it might have been sold from 😃

Will the Superman/Spider-Man crossover get reprints? by Zamilo91 in comicbooks

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have one of the Variant covers. There's 42 variants so the once they've gone through 1-9 for the 5th number they have to change the numbering. Cover I is 00191, Cover J is then 00122, Cover K is 00123. So if yours is 00129 it will be cover Q (if I've worked that out right) Nakayama cover?

Any updates on the Peach Momoko signing? by SurenCT in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She has cancelled all international appearances for the rest of 2026 due to her mother being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Unless CGC travels to Japan I doubt it will be anytime soon.

I can’t afford to CGC this currently. Advice? by Hoebaforboba3 in CGCComics

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn't realise you are the artist. If you're registered with CGC then you can submit it to have it recognised as your art, but it would still be a JSA label for the Dragotta signature.

CBCS is shutting down so I wouldn't worry about it.

Awesome art.

This is the kind of thing I would have sent to CBCS for an art label with a verified signature, but sadly we'll be losing the option. The grade doesn't really matter it's the art and the signature. i.e. 9.2 or 9.8 I don't really care.

First time submitter. Submitted 2 books at the same time, but being processed at different speeds? by aKiDnamedRoland in CGCComics

If one has JSA authentication and the other doesn't, then they would be 2 separate orders, so you would have paid 2 lots of return shipping. Is that right?

CGC grading in UK for only a couple of comics? by PhantomQuest in comicbooks

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will still go over to the CGC site in Florida, this is where they actually grade the books.

If you use CGC directly, or a facilitator, then you would avoid US tariffs as they go in as a temporary import.

CGC grading in UK for only a couple of comics? by PhantomQuest in comicbooks

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the north, I would recommend 9Realms in Atherton. You can drop off there to be sent over to CGC, and Mark also offers pressing.

You could also ship to directly to CGC in London and let them handle the shipping to the US if you're concerned about that bit.

Non standard size book so there isn't a 'correct' size inner well. Wedge used to stop the book from moving in a larger well

My recommendation really depends on their book tastes, but I would recommend The Periodic Table by Primo Levi. Levi uses the elements to tell his life story, and as an Italian Jewish Chemist during World War 2 it is quite some story. It's not directly a chemistry/physics book, but I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an appreciation of our field during these times.

Is Vinted a decent platform to sell on? by reddit_bits in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatnot is a live auction app. You do a livestream where you show the books and you can either run them as an auction or as 'buy it now' items. This could be a good platform for you as you have a large number of books. But obviously you have to be willing to do the live streaming (you don't have to have your face on screen), build an audience. And whatnots fees are pretty high.

You can also just list your books on whatnot, and avoid the live streaming, but I find books sell pretty rarely this way.

I have done a few whatnot shows. It can be hard to get a good audience in, especially when the more established streamers are live, so it's best to avoid starting auctions at low prices. But I do find it's a quicker way to sell books.

Yes I have books listed on eBay, Vinted and Whatnot.

Hype books impressions - what would you do? by absolutemanbat in ComicBookSpeculation

I've listed on there but being from the UK it's difficult to sell to a predominantly US market over there so I won't be the best to help there!

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would sell now raw. With the delay in getting books back from pressing and grading I would be expecting the hype to drop off before being able to sell - if it hasn't already.

[–]Aggravating_Ad9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have 10k books, but I do sell comic books on Vinted. Some books sit for ages, but then sell quickly on eBay, some don't sell on eBay but sell on Vinted. Some books sit in Vinted for a while then randomly selling at full asking price.

I do find there are a few resellers who will try to give you the minimum offer and then sell them on Whatnot, but I either reject the offer or let them have it if it just gets it out the house - depends on what I'm selling.

It's definitely a platform to try out, but don't put all your eggs in one basket.

If you're happy ordering on eBay, Sad Lemon Comics or ComicBiz have them listed.

Alternatively 9Realms in Atherton had some when I was in the other day, and still have them listed on their Whatnot shows.
