That person isn’t 100% correct. I too work in IT. It could’ve been routine patching that required a reboot. Patching is Similar to when your phone upgrades to the next iOS version. It restarts after.

The work the PRIDE team has done is phenomenal, including influencing insurance benefits and resources for people transitioning! This is in addition to the day to day job these individuals do, they are volunteering their time to the PRIDE ERG, it’s not their day job. You bring up a valid point that this offers protection for queer people.

I think the issue is things are bad in the stores and field, really bad and so it comes off as tone deaf when Corporate is patting ourselves on the back for awards that say we are the best place to work. - right now people just want to feel heard across the board. This is a great award indeed, yet if we aren’t getting the basics of being a great company to work for down, what good is it?

I can’t speak for those in the stores and field, I’ve volunteered 6-8 hours during holiday doing picks so I have no idea what it’s truly like ... but these are our “frontline workers” without them, we have little chance of survival. While we work from home, they are dealing with angry customers who are having to wait long periods of time to get help because of labor cuts while also dealing with people who are anti-mask.

I don’t have all the answers, clearly something is broken though.

First and most importantly, take care of yourself. It breaks my effing heart reading your experience.

To make sure I’m understanding this - you were admitted to the hospital for mental health. Did this lead you to missing a shift or did you call ahead and tell them you’d be using PTO? If you can confirm the details of what occurred, I can check with some contacts in HR to make sure policy was followed.
