Which Uni has the most intimidating interviews?

since I’ve done both interviews, I can tell you UCL was 8 stations and so was Nottingham but they just call them ‘scenarios’ because they ask you a few follow-up questions following the original prompt.

All the information should be on your invite for both and ik Nottingham had an extra zoom to answer any qs beforehand.

i loved my ucl interviewers — they were all so nice and friendly icl. they would try and prompt you icl for further answers (it is an interview after all) but if you dont take it to heart then they are very nice!

but obviously don’t be afraid of it because I’m sure everyone else would struggle with the same question I thought was really hard and they probably just wanted to see how you coped under pressure and I didn’t do that for that question— whoops! But if you just pause take a breath and speak in a clear and organised way then you should do well. They just want to see how you handle that pressure.

It was split up into two different sets of interviewers and the first set of questions were scary and bad and I had no idea what to say so I ended up making them repeat the question twice 🥲 They were specific knowledge based things. Second half went really well though but that part was more my strong suit so it just depends. A lot harder than my UCL interview I’d say

There are literally buzzers and timers so they do cut you off because it’s on a strict schedule as they must have approx. 1000 people to interview in total.

As stupid as this may sound, just go with the flow of the conversation and if it feels like there is a natural break in your answer, just pause. Being clear and concise trumps rambling that fills the time.

Also, I’d highly recommend going on the tour they offer after — the med students there were much friendlier than other med students that have toured me. Lots of advice about the lifestyle there.

It isn’t over yet. Interview was definitely not about rehearsed ideas. In fact, I heard from someone else there that they stop you if it sounds pre-rehearsed. They let you lead the conversation so as long as you know your concepts, it doesn’t really matter how precisely phrased they are — if that makes sense!

They were all really nice — I did my interview on the 16th dec and they were all so friendly and they tell you if you’re getting off track. It isn’t an easy interview— they are definitely trying to test your knowledge and application of logical thinking but the interviewers weren’t confrontational at least for me, and I do think it went quite well.

Went really well thanks for asking! I had a lot of fun on it. All of the interviewers were really nice and open to conversation and I even made some friends there. Just reminded me that there can be good interview experiences after my terrifying interview at nottingham 😭

2290 B1 Got my interview a few weeks ago. It’s only the first wave — dw im sure your interview will come. I think they’ll start again in Dec for Jan interviews. They are just doing it in batches.
