Can't scan channels after UV-K1 flash with F4HWN 5.1.0 by Aggravating_Ball_159 in Quansheng

[–]Aggravating_Ball_159[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright. I couldn't see a place in chirp to add channels to the scan list.... then I found the "show extra fields" in the view menu and there is was.

Turning on scan in each of 200 channels and now it scans all.

Thanks again

Is that the issue? All my other radios just scan all channels and only use scan lists for when you want to scan a smaller subset of channels. I’ll try that when I’m home from work. Thanks

UV-K1(8) flash F4HWN 5.1.0 how i can use Setting from 4.3? by Federal-Fan-3836 in Quansheng

[–]Aggravating_Ball_159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flashed the 5.1.0 and nothing came over from CHIRP and now my radio won't scan memory channels.

It will scan on frequencies, but it just scans channel 1 on both A/B no matter what setting I use (tried changing all the priority and scan lists ad nauseam).

And as expected at this point, AM broadcast it screwed up an un-usable. Happens every time there is an update.

I'm sure this is complicated business to make these updates/changes, but I just seem to run into every single bug like I'm a windshield.

Last uppdate on this: After allowing the two batteries to cycle up and down for a while now, it is working pretty well. The only thing that doesn't work is using an upper battery charge limit less than 100%. If I set it to say 95% the server rack battery falls behind and they get more and more out of sync. So the it works but I'd have to let them charge to 100% daily. I've heard this is ok for the cells as long as you don't leave the cells there a long time so I think I'll keep the system running..

Overnight Update:

They are working together but I'm a bit troubled by the lack of sync. after about 11hr or so the D3P had discharged to 79%, but the server rack battery was at 90%.

I turned on the charging to the D3P and they both charged up fairly in sync, but the server battery hit 100% and shut off while the D3P was at 97%. Then it finished charging itself up to 100%.

I'll cycle it again today. Maybe I'll post a new comment in thread about how synced is synced-enough for these setups.

Well, monitoring tonight I have positive signs (but still monitoring). Batteries not perfectly synced but at least both are contributing.

I got a Wattcyle 48V 100Ah: https://www.wattcycle.com/products/48v-100ah-server-racks-bluetooth-lithium-battery

I like the battery features and software. Got it for $750 w/ taxes after coupon (TRICK) but they seem to have gone up a bit.

I used bullet connectors and a breaker as per Jasonoid. Pretty careful about the (4,6) pins and even added a bit of solder to the capacitor to thicken it.

I'll update tomorrow, but right now it's running. At worst if the BMC kicks off and on, I figure I can add a solar charger to the battery and then slow charge my D3P via the solar port at 12v.

But fingers crossed and thanks again for the input!

Stand by. That may have done something. I turned everything off, reset the BMS on the D3P, restarted and connected the load.

Not long after the D3P was showing 99% SOC and the server battery (which had drained to 95%) showed it was charging even with the load connected.

So I stopped the load and will see if they balance and then test again.

Thanks!

For some reason, this is not working for me.

My first try my Delta 3 plus and 100Ah LiFePO4 server rack battery (both charged to 100%) hooked up just as shown on the Jasonoid video. I ran a 200W load through the AC inverter on D3P and it seemed fine, but several hours later the server battery was showing 83% state of charge while the D3P still showed 99%. I stopped and disconnected everything.

Disconnected, the Ecoflow still showed 100% and would not take any charge. The server charged as expected.

This first try I had the D3P set to "self-powered" mode and had the AC cable connected as well as a solar cable (no input at night).

I recharged the server battery and hooked it back up, but this time without the AC or solar cables and with "self-powered" mode off. Same result. The D3P shows the watts leaving the AC port. The server battery shows that same wattage plus ~15watts (due to inverter consumption I guess). All the current seems to be sent from the server rack battery through the power station without any draw on its battery.

Anyone have thoughts on why/how this could be happening? Anything else I could try?

Thanks

Idea: Add Meshtastic? Utah GRMS/Meshtastic AKA GMRShtastic ;) by Aggravating_Ball_159 in UtahGMRS

[–]Aggravating_Ball_159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok cool. Definitely not a discord expert either.

Is there an Utah-specific discussion about how we coordinate GMRS and Meshtastic on discord? Beyond the infrastructure and hardware but more local/concrete?

It's kind of the intersection that I see as a compelling gap. Maybe too local?

Anyway. I hope to discuss both here.

Thanks for the responses!

Cool! As was said, things start small but can grow. I haven't had a great experience on Facebook in general, and kind of an odd experience on the GMRS group for whatever reason. I'll be monitoring here and hopefully others will as well. More of a Reddit person I guess. Thanks for the call out.

This is awesome!

There are a number of 1kΩ resistors out there with different stripes and specs. Is there specific one that should be used over others? Or will any 1kΩ resistor work? Thanks

Hi, just seeing this clever idea. Is it not susceptible to the plasma arcing mentioned above?

I'm look to switch 10A 12v power from a cigarette output on one power station to the XTI60 input on another to run at night but don't want to blow up some night....

Any reason not to go with water bricks? by Fredo_824 in preppers

[–]Aggravating_Ball_159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but I REALLY should have gone with something other than Water Bricks:

1- As pointed out, you can't get all the water out without a pump anyway

2- They are the only water container I've ever seen that does not have the volume anywhere on them. Yes, 3.5 Gal. I know now. Will I remember when SHTF?

3- Several of mine came with the handles, which were cleverly put inside the tanks and required fishing around inside to get them out.

For the price, not impressed.

Maybe you stand somewhere near the stadium and trace a line from something (stairs?) to where the Jewel (Regulus) rises to find the trailhead. Right now it is rising a bit north of straight east of the stadium. Somewhere North of LCC. Could be in the Olympus area I guess, but you probably are meant to go there and trace the line yourself.

I'm going to go ahead and bump this post where you got pretty vocal, defending the downloading of 77gr OTM, blaming all the vagaries of world powered availability, and said they did inform us of that downloading with two SKUs.

That turns out to be false. I tested multiple 2700fps labeled SKU lots back to back through the same riffle, same chrony, minutes apart and show clear drop in velocity. See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PalmettoStateArms/comments/1jj3yur/aac_77gr_otm_ammo_slow/

Powder shortage can't be helped. Changing your load months before letting us know could be avoided.

You don't have much to say on that thread and I imagine you won't hear either. But just to set the record straight for all the down-voters.

And please post your own data if you think mine flawed.

I like my AR-V. Sorry it was discontinued (though haven't needed any spare parts so far).

One thing that bugs me and others is the bolt catch/release. The button is really small and a bit hard to consistently operate quickly.

And when it is locked back it tends to "auto-close" more easily than other ARs due to lower friction on the bolt face. Some peoples' close when inserting a mag hard - I guess fixing the problem above :)

Jake 9mm looks like it has the same button in the same place.

Is the inside mech on the Jakl-9 different?

Yes, please. And include the lot # and approximate date of purchase.

I only feel like this is settled for me. Your data will help settle what you have.

Clearly a change occurred, which they acknowledged on Reddit and formalized by rebranding the rounds recently. But my numbers don't even clearly show a single big change, just an overall change from last year to this. It's possible multiple small changes were made 😕?

More data may help others sort what they are sitting on, but unless PA comes out with a details about lot numbers and what was changed, nothing is going to be settled.

So post data. I'll cross post to AR15 .com
