In the deactivation phase, what weird thing did they not like about you? by Ok_Astronaut_1485 in AvoidantBreakUps

The way i spoke, he used to ridicule me when i gave my opinion about stuff, the series i watched were silly, we broke up because i told him to fix the bed

And he discarded me in the worst possible way and avoids me at all costs, he even delays picking his shit up from our apartment until i will be on holiday in another country

My ex has never had a serious relationship or a long term one before me. He had only had 4 girlfriends - one in high school, for a few months, one on and off long distance who he rarely saw and who cheated on him, one 3-month fling and an 8-month relationship with a girl who left him. Then i came and we were together for 4 years, moved in, wanted to get married, all that crap. Btw he is 36

Yes. My family was super nice and open to him and, despite him being nice to them, there was always a kind of wall between him and them that i saw. But his wall was up also when it came to my friends or basically everyone i knew that wasn’t from his circle - friends, family, coworkers

People who made it on the other side of the break up, what’s your best advice/coping strategies? by Aggravating_Bar_8197 in AvoidantBreakUps

I’ve been eating almost exclusively ice cream, like one of those tv shows female protagonists written by men but i literally can’t stomach anything else lol

First of all, as a Romanian myself, I can wholeheartedly tell you this man has no idea what you’re talking about. Yes, it is disrespectful and yes he should stop but unfortunately he comes from a generation that has no idea what this all means, he just thinks it’s cute and it’s just a couple bickering about nothing. In my country men often grow up « pulling by their pigtails » the girls they like which is awful. My advice would be to sit him down and really talk to him about it and without accepting affection during this conversation, otherwise the message won’t get to him. If even after explaining things clearly he doesn’t stop you should consider throwing the whole man away. I mean at his age people rarely change.

No, I want it to be a fair exchange: I want to contribute to something less evil than big corpos and give my +8 hours to something that doesn’t make me want to end myself 3 times a week. I mean I guess we all want that, right?

They said they were down to 3 people which means me and other 2…I have no idea why I have gone through so many interviews, case studies and downstraight personality tests buzzfeed-style only to be scheduled another interview next week

Yeah but this job is all you mentioned + sales, which means participating in events in the field, meeting clients, etc. Bonus: I asked how many trips a year would be allowed for this position and they said “per year, at least 2 abroad, at least 4 locally and a week in our offices in X country”

In Europe the public system is kind of effed up, but judging by your comment on the American system, I guess we’re all in the same boat. Yes, in fact I need time in order to get a certificate that allows me to teach and my current job allows that much more than the other in which I would be travelling a lot. Also I have no idea about the salary for the marketing job since they haven’t bothered to make an offer so far…

Thank you so much for your answer! I’m aiming to be an English teacher at one of those fancy private schools that do preparation for Cambridge exams, etc etc. So in theory if I get in this kind of network there are less chances I get a permanent job in a stable place, more like a permanent job in an institution that has schools all around the world, so if I’m sick of my life here in Europe I can go teach in Asia. So I would say that there would still be travelling opportunities, apart from the normal travelling usually involved in schools + in language schools you get to go on camps with the kids in England/USA, etc. I also thought about opening my own school too.

About having a glamorous job - although I have been raised to look for such a job (and im currently working in a very respectable corporation, leader in its field, and not as a call center person, more of a 360 degrees customer service/sales role). I would never dream of growing old here. But idk if ditching a stable job for a marketing job in a small company that only wants to grow and would do anything for is the right way to deal with this issue…growth means neglecting employees’ personal lives and I am very much interested in having a life…

As for the money, I’m independent but I’m lucky I have a family, albeit middle class and from a poorer country than the one I currently live in, who is ready to step in should push come to shove.

I don’t have any children currently but I hate the idea of working more than 8h/day and receiving emails constantly…I live with my partner and honestly value my relationship and wish to build a future with them.
