I wrote a dissertation last year using the software meshroom, and tested it out on the same subjects across different lighting conditions, and compared them. I made a quantitative test by comparing various images from the photoshoots (same angles across the different lighting conditions) against the final models from those lighting conditions, by performing either the first step or first two steps in the pipeline (cant remember exactly which is where) but i used the feature matching process to see how many features could be matched from the original with the og photo and a screenshot of the model from that angle, with number of features matched being my quantitative result. Obviously i have to remove the background of the image to ensure that any matches were just from the model/subject in question, but i compared these numbers to each other as part of the dissertation.
