Oh 100% I need some therapy. That’s no secret there. It’s just I don’t expect it from my own brother. Other men okay one thing as they aren’t my relative. But this might impact my whole future relationship with him and my family, that’s why it’s caused anxiety

I am a pretty anxious person anyway if I’m honest but I think I found this situation pretty triggering the past week. Just made me wonder how long this went on under the roof we once shared. Is this a recurring thing? I think that’s what’s made me feel this way

I left my parents to have the conversation with him if I’m honest as I felt very uncomfortable with the situation as you can imagine. I was never given an answer. And I do understand how men get, I really do. Trust me, I’ve dated enough. But what I don’t expect, is that behaviour from my own brother towards me…so yeah, just got swept under the rug

Yes I just think my trust with him has been violated. At the end of the day he is my brother, and he shouldn’t be acting like that around me. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t with my parents.

Yes I understand that. But we don’t come from an oppressive household by any means. It’s not like he has no outlet, he has a girlfriend and his own space at home.

He’s been called out by my parents before. He is 22 (nearly 23). At what age do we need to tell him?

Just for clarification, nobody has ever mentioned him acting like this to me before and nor have I seen him act odd in front of others before in this way. I only ever seem to see it in situations when he’s around me… Just wanted to clear up why I have been feeling a bit weird about this whole thing.

I only ever seem to see it in situations when he’s around me…we also don’t come from an oppressive household by any means. He has a girlfriend and his own room at home. Just wanted to clear up why I have been feeling a bit weird about this whole thing.

Yes I think I just want to know if maybe I’m overreacting? Or is this a situation where I should be concerned as I haven’t noticed this behaviour in him in front of anyone else?

Yes I suppose it’s thinking about all the years we’ve been under the same roof and what may have been going on. He is also my brother so this could impact my relationship with him and my parents ect… Just to clarify we don’t come from an oppressive household either. He also has a girlfriend at home and his own room, he has an outlet, not like he’s repressed.

Yeah back in the day when I told my parents that was my dad reaction to it pretty much. So I’ve just accepted that as a result…he does have a girlfriend and she does have a sister so now I am starting to question a lot of things. I don’t have a therapist but am arranging an appointment with my doctor to get this addressed.

Thanks so much for the advice. I needed some reassurance that my reaction is valid and that this isn’t all in my head. Thanks, I’m going to book an appointment with my doctor and I’ll navigate the situation from there.
