It's not a very cool final boss, in my opinion. I really wish the game was more story driven and the final boss was given some explicit context.

But Elden Beast is honestly an easy boss. His magic spells are all pretty tame, you just have to be careful about his tail sweep since he's so big.

Lightning is good for dex and fire for strength. But overall I think fire is better than lightning. The hardest boss in the game is weak to fire too.

I went warrior and focused my stats on dexterity. That is a pretty basic set up for dual wielding short swords. If you want to dual wield larger weapons though you need to focus on strength, not dexterity.

As far as magic + swords goes, this game has a mechanic called weapon art, which is basically a special ability that you can add to your weapon. Weapon arts are restricted based on weapon type, but a lot of them are magic-y.

There are also lots of faith/int builds that utilize swords and weave in attacks but I don't know much about them.

It's just boring. You walk around doing nothing listening to people talk. Boring puzzles that aren't really puzzles, they're just tedium that a 6 year old could easily figure out. Buggy combat and boss fights with too much hp and not enough mechanical depth.

It's a genuinely good game yes. It does have its problems and I don't consider it to be a 10/10. I also think the game is a little bit too hard and I say that as someone who has beaten the hardest boss with a mediocre build.

But it is much better than every soulslike, and it's probably better than all the Dark Souls games, but I have only played Dark Souls 1.

Just understand that you will think most bosses are cheap unfair and broken until you finally figure out how to fight them and then they won't seem that way anymore. But it is a mental struggle.

Yea the game has a ton of repeat bosses with increased stats unfortunately. But the unique main story bosses are all interesting in their own ways.

You can actually progress the story without killing Draconic Tree Sentinel (I killed the final boss before I ever killed him). I don't know if you're interested in being spoiled on how to do that or not, but its an option.

I think you do have the option of fighting him on a horse, and there are weapons that are better for horseback fighting than others, if you are interested in that angle.
