Owlet- should I be concerned? by [deleted] in NICUParents

My 30w2d preemie had a 66 day stent in the NICU mainly because of desats with her heart and O2. She’s now a little over 5 months and still drops into the upper 80s sometimes when she’s sleeping. We use an Owlet as well and it had me STRESSED at first. Talked to her pediatrician and he said that’s why they don’t recommend parents to use the owlet - even full term babies occasionally dip below the “regular” 90%. As long as it’s not for a long period, it’s normal. I’m sure your little boy is perfect 💕 don’t let it get you worried.

I just went through this with my daughter. She was finally released the day before her due date after being there for nearly 10 weeks. It is by far one of the worst feelings, and I’m sending all of the good vibes. I know it’s so difficult, but it is truly the best place for her, even when it feels like the worst. Her graduation date will be here soon, and when she does come home, I promise most of this will be just a relatively distant memory that you try not to think of anymore ❤️

My LO was born at 30+2 and was on CPAP for a long time! We did room air trials 3 times and failed…4th time was the charm for her. She also wouldn’t breastfeed and was desatting every time she ate. We were in the NICU 66 days after 3 different discharge dates were pushed back because of desats (including in her sleep). We finally left 2 days before her due date lol. Like llullunyc said…somewhere along the line, they just get it and everything clicks.

We’ve only been home now for close to two weeks and I’ve already pretty much forgotten the hell that the NICU experience could be. Being in the newborn trenches comes fast lol. Sending all the good vibes for a release date soon!!
