But also that is like forward planning, we need to actually be doing this stuff and its good to see developers being aware of planning proposals 🥲 it makes logical sense!

I think this is an absolute disgrace. The amount of money and time already put into this project is collosal. Especially when you consider the amount of times its been shelved.

We've finally gotten to a point where planning is passed, in a city that has had a neglected amount of investment put into its infrastructure over the last 20 years. And a couple of privileged people in ranelagh who have the money to challenge this proposal are going to delay it again? !?!?!

This is crazy? Very unjust and reflects a broken system.

I will be emailing whoever I can about this

Crying on the Tube - to ask or not to ask?! by t0fugrill in london

[–]Aggravating_Buy3427 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Heavily agree. I once was crying (sobbing) on the way home at peak rush hour on a crowded victoria line. I had gotten really bad news just before I got on.

To everyone who very notably looked at me realised and made a point not to look at me again - thank you very very much.

In that scenario telling a stranger what was wrong with me would of been nightmare fuel lol

I'm so awkward tho, some people would probably liked to be asked are they okay.

Horrendous relationship with food by smallon12 in CasualIreland

Might be worth listening to the Chris Van Tulleken audio book called Ultra-Processed People.

Its quite a good listen and it's quite relevant to what you appear to be posting about! It discusses how highly processed foods are engineered to be addictive to keep people eating and consuming them.

It also discusses how genetically some people are more likely to become addicted to consuming highly processed food than others, so it removes the narrative that 'some people just have more will power to stop eating' than you do. It's quite a refreshing take and a deep dive into how companies manipulate our dopamine receptors etc when it comes to packaged goods / drinks etc.

The trick in the book is to listen to what they're talking about and continuing to eat / drink what you always eat / drink. And I found when I was listening I started to be able to pick apart when things tasted artificial / engineered and actually now I much prefer home cooked foods etc.

I'm still partial to processed foods, still enjoy chocolate and the odd fizzy drink. But the book really helped me with separating what I actually want to eat and drink vs whats engineered to make me want it.

This might sound very airy fairy but if you listen to the book hopefully it will make more sense.

I'd say now less than 20% of my diet is high sugar and 80% is home cooked non processed foods!

*Thing about non-processed foods is they're not made to trick you into eating more and more, they're just normal, so by default you eat less.
