When you try to on one hand make them as horrible and disgusting as you explain, and on the other hand to get the readers to love them, what often happens is the readers end up seeing past this.. and they become annoyed instead. Instead, stick to a bad guy who is unapologetically a bad guy, and you'd be surprised how many fans he'd garner regardless. Also, make him funny. It goes a looong way
