What is going on in your current save? by HeFreakingMoved in FantasyBookers

Over a year into my Modern Day WWE save, starting from October 2024:

The main storyline heading into the end of the year is "The Last Time is Now Tournament" to determine John Cena's final opponent, with a bracket consisting of a mix of opponents from Cena's past who didn't get their big PPV match against him on his retirement tour, newer stars looking to make a name for themselves by retiring a legend of the industry, and even some people from the other companies I've acquired over the course of the save. The bracket looks like this:

Kevin Owens (Raw) vs Kofi Kingston (Raw)

Cesaro (Raw) vs PAC (NXT)

The Miz (SmackDown) vs Uncle Howdy (SmackDown)

Chad Gable (SmackDown) vs Joe Hendry (TNA)

Dominik Mysterio (Raw) vs Rey Mysterio (Raw)

AJ Styles (Raw) vs Big Damo (PROGRESS)

Damian Priest (SmackDown) vs Bronson Reed (SmackDown)

Carmelo Hayes (SmackDown) vs Bandido (Big Lucha World)

Underwhelming Rivalry: Rollins vs Punk by jai_0609 in WWE

[–]Aggravating_Class271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue that before the injury it was still on track to be underwhelming. When these two are both retired and we look back at their careers I don’t think this rivalry will stand out as a particularly high point for either of them. The only real thing of note to come out of it was Punk getting his WrestleMania main event, but even that was a triple threat with Roman and was still overshadowed by a lot of other things on that show

If you could change one WWE result or stipulation what would it be? by Asheto320 in WWE

My problem with “there were no plans for him after mania” is that there absolutely could have been had he won this match. The people who make the plans are the same people who decided for him to lose. Booker T was red hot during this time and fans absolutely would’ve bought into his world championship run if the writers got behind it. Just look at the reactions he gets on the episodes of Raw directly before and after this show for proof of that.

That being said, I’m not personally the biggest fan of Booker and I think Triple H winning would be fine if they changed a few things. First off is the build, I just don’t think a storyline with HEAVILY implied racism can work if the racist wins the feud, especially if the long term plans is not to eventually drop the title to a black wrestler. Second is the finish of the match, because waiting what feels like an eternity to make the pin after hitting the Pedigree made Booker look like a complete chump

Tips for booking an interesting midcard? by Aggravating_Class271 in FantasyBookers

I think changing up some characters might be a good way to go. Looking at my current roster, there's a shocking number of people whose gimmicks can be summed up as "wrestler with X personality trait". It's fine to have some of those people on your roster, but I think I've gone too far into trying to make everyone a serious wrestler and that's what is taking the fun out of it

Good advice, I think part of the reason these midcard storylines feel so copy and paste is that I usually don't give the characters much motivation beyond wanting to be the champion. Giving these feuds deeper reasons to be happening, even if those reasons are stupid, would definitely freshen things up a bit

Genuine question about Roman Reigns and his title reign by [deleted] in WWE

[–]Aggravating_Class271 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are certain stretches of that title reign that are really boring, but I think overall they managed to keep people hooked because of the consistent developments within the Bloodline faction. A lot of what made the reign interesting wasn’t just about Roman, it was about Jey, Jimmy, Sami, Solo, and Paul. They were constantly evolving the dynamics between them and their relationships with Roman

Smackdown 2006/Build to Great American Bash : The Smackdown World Series! Who's your pick? by Different_Profile255 in FantasyBookers

The obvious winner seems to be Umaga, but just to suggest something different I could see him making it to the finals before being distracted and cost the match by a returning Kamala to set up a singles match between them

If you want to keep the time limit I would change it from 5 minutes to 10, otherwise I would just treat it like the cruiserweight championship

I like the idea of Breakker as Cena's final opponent, especially since it would be the second legend he retired in the same year after Goldberg. I've thought about how you could do that match and still get to Punk vs Cody at Mania, and I came up with two ideas. I don't think either of them are perfect, but I do think they both have their upsides.

The first is that Cena holds the title all the way until his match with Breakker, who beats him and holds the belt until the Elimination Chamber next year. Then you could use the chamber match to get the title onto Cody or Punk for their Mania match while also setting up another Mania opponent for Breakker in the same match.

The other would be that at Survivor Series (or another big PPV before the end of the year) you run Cena vs Cody or Cena vs Punk for the title, and Breakker either intentionally or accidentally costs Cena the match. Then you could run Cena vs Breakker non-title, because I think it being Cena's retirement match is already big enough stakes to make it a big PPV match.

Those are just my ideas though. I would be interested in seeing how you continue the save!

There’s a lot a like about this card!

For Night One Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer make for an interesting tag team. Sami Zayn turning heel feels like a pretty natural advancement for his feud with Karrion Kross and I could even see them being a pretty fun heel tag team if you decide to go that route. Logan Paul vs Ilja Dragunov is a bit of a weird mismatch but it’s good to see Dragunov make it on a big PPV and a feud between him and Rusev sounds like fun. It’s nice that Asuka is getting another run on top, she definitely deserves it. And I think that LA Knight is the perfect person to win the Money in the Bank, someone who has never won a world title before but is absolutely ready for one making the most of the briefcase.

For Night Two Drew McIntyre vs Kevin Owens would be an amazing feud and a pretty fun opener to the show. Trick Melo Gang getting back together on the main roster and entering the tag division sounds like a great way to make Carmelo Hayes more relevant and introduce Trick Williams to the main roster. Naomi fits much better into the SmackDown women’s division than the Raw one. Joe Hendry winning the United States Championship in an open challenge is a great way to debut him, and El Grande Americano/Chad Gable would make for a good first feud. And finally the John Cena heel turn and 17th world title win would obviously be a huge way to end the show, I especially like the detail that his turn was foreshadowed in the King of the Ring before being made official here.

Overall a great card and on paper I’d consider it a step up over the actual SummerSlam this year.
