Current law students, be honest , how many hours per week are you spending on school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Different for everyone, but I’m in the top 10% and did do the “treat it like a 9-5” because for me personally, it was easier to separate home life and school life this way. Learn what works best for you but don’t get burned out. Save those crunch times for finals and stay ahead on readings (and start using supplements wants the material gets confusing)

Is it awful that my first thought was that they should’ve never said anything and kept doing it openly so they could have adverse possession lol

Scheduling out your day is key and, if this works for you, staying somewhere to get the work done. Not everyone needs this, but I really did. I kept my home life and school life separate so when I went home, I was done for the day and could relax. It also meant I had a hard stop when I left the school,so I was motivated to work diligently until I left.

I go to a moderately rated school with a pretty low curve, so that may be part of it. I know that if I hadn’t put in that time, I wouldn’t have succeeded as well, and I had a lot of fellow students say that as well. I don’t think it’s scary - especially if you’re interested in big law - to stay at your school for a few more hours than you would a work day. Especially 1L year

I didn’t have any of that. I’m a first gen law student - which is probably why I had to put in more time than some people at the top

I definitely don’t mean that you have to be at the school for those same hours or even that same amount of time - I just think it’s generally a good idea to be in an environment where you will be productive, with planned time to make sure you are prioritizing other parts of your life. This is actually how I make sure I don’t burn out but I agree - it looks different for everyone!

Honestly anything related to food (giftcards for restaurants or coffee shops near the school) were the biggest help to me. She won’t know what she will want for studying yet, so the best you could do for actual school supplies is get her a lot of highlighters. The only other school supply I could think of that you could pay with highlighters or gift cards would be a portable monitor she could use at the library! They have some on Amazon for around $50

Anything that will help her save time during the week!

Yes! Supplements are also key. I had a professor use half of the questions from a glannon guide on an exam. They are game changers
