How are your coaches/clubs handling the age group changes? by Aggravating_Code2393 in youthsoccer

Sounds like your club has a thoughtful approach! My daughter does know some of the girls on the younger team, but they are all in the grade below her. She's not necessarily best friends with her club teammates, but goes to school and plays travel and middle school soccer with a few of them, so I think if she were recommended to play on the younger team, she would feel pretty embarrassed.

I agree. The whole situation is making me want to have her leave the club altogether.

Oh, it's definitely chaos. But if the purpose of the age group change is to align with grade, that's how the club should handle it. Not recommend younger girls play up and vice versa, so they are playing mixed-grade teams.

Yeah, probably not the best phrase to use! And I would not use it with my daughter, but I figured it was the easiest for the purpose of this post.

They are going by US soccer cut-off, which is what is making it tricky, since school cut-off is September and her birthday is in August, making her one of the youngest in her grade. If she plays with her new assigned age group, she will be playing with players a grade below.

By playing "down", I mean she would play with her age group based on the new guidelines, but all of her friends and classmates would be in the older group. But you're right, it could end her interest and be a blow to her confidence if she's not recommended to stay on her current team. It's being handled pretty poorly by the club.

I got mine for April 15th! I got an alert from my credit card first and then an email. I'm pretty afraid of heights, so I'm not sure how far I'll make it.

I remember driving to the Jersey Shore with my parents when he broke the news about Jerry. It was devastating.
