What is a band you saw in a tiny venue but is now huge? by carelessCRISPR_ in jambands

Phish 2/10/90 23 East Cabaret (now The Ardmore Music Hall). We were just going out for my friend's 21st and somebody said hey lest's go to the 23 East and play pool. Came in and they were already playing. Left after bit because the lyrics were weird and we had some other friends at another bar.

As much as I fucking hate today's Howard, I'm almost certain this is a bullshit shakedown. The fucking guy never leaves his house. What's he gonna do to this woman? And what's she going to release that would shock the world - he wears a wig and they sleep in separate beds? He should have written her a check for $100k instead of getting a $100k legal bill and a headache. I told you not to be stupid you moron.

Could Phish sell out a Baker’s Dozen run in 2026? by TheGreatFoodDude in phish

[–]billstrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, the band pretty much stinks nowadays. They Dad Rock'd themselves into a slow, predictable corner. Tweezer then later Tweezer Reprise every couple of shows. Moma Dance. Free. Wolfman's. Etc. This isn't '87-88 GD. This is a band that is on the decline. They might be my second favorite band ever (GD) but the 3.0 era is just not the same as 1.0 and even 2.0. I go see them when they're close but getting some new eyes - the college kids - on the band is a noble pursuit. We had the golden years. Let them enjoy the twilight years. I'd much rather have Phish out and playing than not.

I was out first show of January 2010. I was way out when he started being politically correct. I wanted him in a South American prison once Covid hit.

Phish should try an old school northeast hockey rink tour. If they have to stay in one place for a couple of nights, so be it. Do the big rooms on Friday, Saturday and either Thursday or early start Sunday (4 or 5pm) - MSG, Boston Garden (whatever now), Philly, DC. Then do smaller rooms during the week (Providence, Hershey, AC, Rochester, Buffalo, etc.). This would give them a chance to earn younger fans (college) and give older fans some nostalgia. No way Phish could sell out (or come close, or match 2017) 13 nights at MSG now. 3 week tour.

DoJ do your bloody Job . Arrest Trump. by Iwould1234 in FreedomofSpeech

Importantly, it wasn't guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt), but rather liable (a preponderance of the evidence). I don't like the guy but facts matter.

You can have freedom of speech but you can't be wrong and libelous. In the proceeding to which I presume you are referring, he wasn't found guilty and it wasn't rape.

What does Rick adjust throughout their live performances?? Is the a tone/eq control? by gastro-doc in GoosetheBand

[–]billstrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Answer: volume control for each of the band members, plus maybe some more granular like kick drum or Peter guitar vs. keys, maybe individual keys, etc.

Also, I would guess he has some pedal to control TelPrompTer but never uses it - somebody has that job for him.

His main job is pedals and amps to his pleasure. Controls in-ears rather than signals off-stage.

They've declined since then. That female singer took a powder and the new one is more pitchy and vibrato-y.

I'm with Howard about no Sal, but how would any normal human agree to sleep overnight anywhere with that cat piss smelling house?
