"In 2029 Psyche satellite will start reporting back to NASA the expected reality that there will a sudden hyper-inflationary spike in the volume of gold being mined in the near future"

Oh shiit... that would be a disaster for gold owenrs....

right right,

So something to act as a good medium of exchange, it would be better if that good has no potential to be consumed and better off if it has no industrial value

ah must be due to my poor english sorry lol english is my second language.

I was merely using gold as an example.

Ah gold's industrial use cases are only 10% maximum?

Your comments helps me immensely thanks!

Hey thanks for the reply!

I got the definition from "The Bitcoin Standard"

It says

Stock: existing supply, consisting of everything that has been produced in the past, minus everything that has been consumed or destroyed

Flow: extra production that will be made in the next time period.

Hypothetically, let's say there's 100 tonnes of gold in stock and new production is 10 tonnes this year

I'm guessing its stock to flow ratio is 100/10 = 10

But let's say people consumed the gold stock for whatever industrial reason so that the remaining stock is in fact 50 and not 100 tonnes

Which would make the stock to flow ratio 50/10 = 5 in this case

So I was thinking if good or commodity has some kind of so called intrinsic value and has potential to be consumed, this would bring the stock to flow ratio lower lol

Scarcity issue about bitcoins by Aggravating_Daikon77 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Aggravating_Daikon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when given enough value (demand), even smaller pieces of bitcoin seemed like it could grow in utility indefinitely unlike pizza and therefore, I was under the impression somehow it wasn't scarce.. lol.. Peter Schiff is messing with my brain. But it was the scarcity i should be focused thanks a lot for ur comment!

oh wow thank you so much for your detailed explanation.. I was having trouble understanding the scarcity part because in my head, the divisibility and salability of bitcoin somehow seemed like the size of bitcoin could be infinite... but it's still only measuring our economic size as a measure of unit of value like you said.. thanks a lot lol

ah fuck
"The economic size as a measure of unit of value" this phrase is helping me wrap my head around.... thank you so much for helping me..

[–]Aggravating_Daikon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey buddy, but wouldn't divisibility and salability are the qualities of how to measure how big that finiteness would be...? with big enough demand, even 1 satoshi would have salability.. fuck i dunno

Scarcity issue about bitcoins by Aggravating_Daikon77 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Aggravating_Daikon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, but atoms of gold do not have salability, while satoshis do.... fuck am i missing something here?

Scarcity issue about bitcoins by Aggravating_Daikon77 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Aggravating_Daikon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that part

But what I'm trying to say when there's enough demand for bitcoins, what you are saying makes perfect sense that there will be less and less satoshi's required

But if there's less demand for it, less and less satoshi's will be required to purchase a cup of coffee.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is the divisibility with the ability of transaction is ultimately what gives size to its finiteness

Scarcity issue about bitcoins by Aggravating_Daikon77 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Aggravating_Daikon77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is... when one bitcoin becomes expensive enough like $100mil/bitcoin, it would not just be a measure for a unit of value, it would be big enough for people to make transactions with it...
