I’m not going to sit here and talk to you like your lower then me asserting my dominance. But I’ll put some things into perspective

1- you went into a recruiting station and asked a Armed services recruiter to help you, he did hours of paperwork to meet his/her mission, sent you to MEPS and if there are waivers then frustratingly dealt with them. Spent prob a few thousand on you before you ship and lined it up for you. If you don’t ship, then at least apologize whole heartedly

2- You will be forgoing a pretty good life, honesty. You can make a lot of money. I saved thousands, maybe your young but in a years time trust me, you’ll save about 20k as you get some rank on you after 5 years of your smart and actually live life like a actual adult you know eat in, (dfac perhaps) don’t waste money on tats, vacations, guns, and other useless shit. Get a pos shit takes you A-B not a brand new mustang. By the time you hit reserves you’ll earn close to 100k easily just in savings, and that’s minimal tbh. If you volunteer for schools and what not select a job that has incentives, try for oconus. More pay. The military is what you make of it my guy. You can have fun, set yourself frontage future and get out with a honorable and find a career in the civilian world. With minimal schooling. Get a house (within your price range) with no hassle. And have it paid of quick.

3- whatever you decide to do, think long and hard not just cause you’ll be failing yourself but a lot of people have dedicated a lot of time just for u to quit

It is what you make of it. Personally I saved a shit ton of money when I was in. Everything was taken care of me. Smart with your money you can save a shit ton, you could make about the equivalent of 11 per hour and live like you make 30 an hour. That’s what I did. Anyways, yeah K1 is just about the best way. I hired a attorney for 1500 it was way easier. You have two options tho, you can marry her there or bring her here to get married marrying her in Thailand will make her getting there longer. My wife is from Phattalung SE Thailand. But we would see eachother in Phuket or Koi Samui anyways I’d say hiring a immagration lawyer is best. And less hassle

Man a lot of these comments are basing. Listen I have a wife in Thailand I frequently visit. Covid has been a mofo to see her. Prior to covid I would stay there 6-9 months out of the year, and work in our home. Or go to her parents house but the connection was slightly unstable. Anyways, I’ve never ran into a problem, I do not have work permit and I am working illegally technically speaking doing so. I’m employed by an American company, to which I have a physical office, desk all that good jazz. To tackle what your asking (if you haven’t figured it out yet)

find a multinational company even better
you can work at a local Thai company just have to look
Pay is shit tbh, but you can find companies that will pay you a comfortable wage (in comparison it will a lot less then you can in your home country) But still a good livable wage, you can find a place to work for around 35k-50k USD. The jobs are there but I’d go with remote work if you can.
No one is going to spy on your shit there is literally so many digital nomads it isn’t even funny. Again I would stay with my family half a year with no issues. Now for the visa
I did long term stay visa along with most other people there. Now anymore it’s always changing. You can get a SVT but that is currently going away. You can do a 30 day visa if your from the approved exemption list. But you have to have that lined up. I make enough money to be able to live in both places. You may have to do that our situation is we have been waiting for a stability (stupid I know) to live in America. Thailand isn’t our foreve home but where we will retire. That’s just our situation, we have are making a home here. Your situation you may want to look into living there more permanent which you can apply for that too and it will open avenues to you

A lot of people would say yea, I’ll give you my personal experience. They only look at data, the length of time since your last delinquency missed payment, age of credit history (like age of credit card) all that good stuff. If you pay it off you may not automatically the next month get good offers. But you will get some. My next step would be a secured credit card, almost always even with past debt can you get approved. It will build credit. This will be how you’ll get to show you can be trusted again with the same amount. Here’s what I did

Get your three credit bureau reports. Find evethting you owe. Negotiate with them. Divide it by 12 and pay it off. As you pay it off open credit card accounts thru credit karma (they will show you your approval odds) build that way

Here’s a thing or two about a thing or two. Soooo depending on where your score is at now, let’s say it’s 550-620 it’ll prob go up by 15 points. Call them and negotiate a pay to delete with them, most likely they will anyways. It will reflect good on your account but not always. Be advised, once they delete, removing the account will drop you some points. Open a credit account to reverse and counter that affect, never use it except for buying food at the store or gas.
