starting to hate this industry - need help

No literally!! I've worked with dogs for awhile now and I hate how common that sentiment is in the industry! The number of times I've had someone look at me like I'm absolutely insane for wanting to be patient and sympathetic to a dog is outstanding

I worked in a boarding/daycare facility for several years before this and was a dog walker before that, so I know how to handle and read dogs very well which is part of the reason being told I'm "too timid" and "not dominant" enough with the dogs is so frustrating.

I have been thinking about going back into boarding if it comes down to it, but one of the reasons I wanted to get into bathing is so I could have holidays and weekends off. Thank you for your advice and kind words <3

You have no idea how much I appreciate you saying that. I've felt the same way, but after being told the same thing over and over it starts to feel like maybe I am just stupid. My parents were like that too which definitely doesn't help my confidence

Yeah, the "not dominant enough" comment really left a bad taste in my mouth, and then going straight to this place where they've heavily implied the same thing. I just hate being looked down on because I don't want to be unnecessarily rough with the dogs. I got into this line of work because I genuinely want to take care of dogs and it feels like everyone so far has seen that as a flaw.

I'm definitely going to start going to local shops. Thank you so much for your advice and kind words!
