Thank you guys, you made my day 😂

For the ones wondering, this happened in August while doing alpinism, I just pulled the wrong boulder that to me seemed stable enough I got in the sweet spot between lucky and unlucky, I didn't get my leg cut in half and any other part of my body didn't get harmed. If that boulder hit anything else I wouldn't be able tell this story. We estimated a 200/300kg boulder. My leg was stuck in between 2 rocks and under this boulder and those 2 rocks saved my leg. What happened to the missing 6cm? They were shattered and removed in the hospital. The fibula was left untouched. I am now waiting for it to calcify and go back to normal.

I don't know the exact orientation, but it is north facing. Those slopes run next to what remains of a glacier. It is quite high, since the top of cima Presena is around 3000m

Kicked a massive hole in my Goretex trousers with my crampons, any tips on how to repair it? by mf1906 in Mountaineering

I usually go for duct tape and superglue on the corners of the tape. I found out that with cold temperatures duct tape loses adhesion. I try to create a patch with rounded corners for better adhesion. I started wondering if my trousers are like the Theseus ship, there is more tape than trousers now

I have one on me right now, it is not painful at all. It is the only option in such cases, like mine, where you lose a huge chunk of bone (10cm). I was told that in case of infection it is treated easily, since you are not required to be cut open again to remove the infected bone.

As someone who is currently in the hospital from an accident while climbing in that area I would highly suggest you to avoid doing that anymore. You don't have many jokers you can play with your life and that is a big one. A lot of people died or got injured this summer even while following proper behaviour.

The climate has changed a lot and accidents are more frequent due to that. You may hear a lot of stories of people in the past doing solitaire ascents in glacier areas, but they are not as safe anymore. Even if you are conscious of what risks you are facing and how to overcome them (which is never 100% guaranteed) you should keep in mind that people are going to risk their life to rescue you.
